My new neighbours dog keeps me up all night?

I live in an apartment building and a new couple moved in next to us a few nights ago. They have a yappy dog that barks all night long, keeping my boyfriend and myself up all night. It's driving me crazy! I have to wake up early for work every day and I can't funtion without sleep. Problem is, I haven't even met my new neighbours yet...and I don't want to seem like a b!tch especially if there's nothing they can do about the dog.

My first question: is it possible to get a dog to shut up? Is it possible to train a dog not to bark all night long? I never owned a dog so I wouldn't know

Secondly: How do I deal with this problem without seeming like a b!tch? I don't want to move. The apartment is spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and is great value for money. Plus I signed a lease that doesn't end until September.
I don't want to go directly to the lardlord, not yet anyways.they deserve the chance to fix the problem before it gets to that point. What should I do?
Answers:
You should take the time out to go over and politley introduce yourselves to your neighbors. Maybe take a welcoming gift too. Then once the formal introduction is done, nicely tell them that their dogs are keeping you both up at night and ask if there is something they can do to stop them from barking. It is possible that the dogs are not use to their surroundings yet and will stop once they are. Let them know you dont want to involve the landlord cause with proper communication, this is something they can fix. Tell them that others in the apartment building might not be as understanding and may complain. Thats it. Change the subject and enjoy your stay.
just call the cops
you should buy some earplugs if that doesn't work than i don't know
sausages + rat poison = quiet, sleep-ful nights
Welcome your new neighbors with a baked gift. This will open up a conversation about their dog. It takes about 2 weeks for a dog to adjust to the new smells and noises of his home. Good luck.
Telling your neighbors is not being a b!tch.
if you don't say anything it's not going to stop.tell the people that own the dog to put a muzzle on their dog at night.that wouldn't fly with me.remember you were there first!
The easiest thing in the world is to talk to each other. Communication is 90% of the solution of the world's problems.

Buy a bunch of flowers, knock on their door. Welcome him as new neighbours, and politely ask if you could talk to them about a concern of yours.

Tell it as it is, but be polite and calm.

There are ways to make dogs stop barking, but YOU can't do it for them. Only the owners can do that.
As a landlord we prefer if you come to us first,as to avoid neighbor to neighbor conflicts which we hate. As their landlord he/she will be able to resolve this issue with out you being involved and without using your name. Many times we will say the maintenance was on a service call in the middle of the night and heard the dog barking. And even though the neighbors have not complained you know it has to be bothersome blah blah... you get the point. Good luck
Introduce your self to your neighbors. Then politely say, "I don't mean to be rude, but is there any way you can get your dog to stop barking all night. It is keeping me up and I have to get up fairly early in the morning for work. If there is anyway you could control this, I would be very grateful." You could even write this in an anonymous letter to your neighbor.
u'd better talk about with ur landlord, my dog is better, she only bark while she is thirsty hungry and want to play with her~~~~~
First of all break the ice with your new neighbours, invite them to dinner become good friends, then after a bit politelyt ask them if they could do something about their dog such as saying: "I'm sorry to say but we were wonderign what's been going on with your dog? he seems to be barking a lot lately at night, and we were just wondering..." They should try to get it to shutup.
Now if this doesn't work then this will never fail
Step 1: Buy a gun.
Step 2: Visit the dog.
So don't be the b itch neighbour.. What you do is go next door with a gift.. Cake or whatever.. something nice but don't over do it... You go over as the nice neighbour welcoming them. They'll ask you in and they'll introduce you to the dog. After some idle chit chat, you bring up the dog and it's barking and let them know that not you but there are people in the building who aren't exactly the animal loving types... They are likely to get a whole lot of complaints if they don't keep him quiet.. You don't care but you thought you would let them know what the talk is around the apt building.. Let them think that you know the dog barks, you aren't impressed, but you aren't the problem, it's some of the others in the building.. You are now their friend and they have a common bond with you, and they are afraid to get kicked out and they try to keep their dog quiet.

That way you have warned them, and let them know that the dog is bugging people.. When you need to tell the landlord later about them, IF they don't shut the dog up, it's not coming directly from you, but the building in general.
