My puppy doesn't eat/drink food/water out of the bowel, but only eats/drink out of my hand. What should I do?

Answers:
You must train your dog to eat from the bowl. You will not always have time to let the puppy eat from your hand.

Put the food in the bowl and pat your puppy and speak kind words and eventually the puppy will eat from the bowl.

When the puppy eats from the bowl, pat him/her and say 'good dog', then the pup will want to eat from the bowl again to earn the reward of your happiness.

It takes a little time, but you will be able to train your puppy through kindness mixed with firmness.

Leave the food in the bowl and DO NOT give in to his whining. Dogs can't NOT eat, and hunger is a powerful training tool. As long as the food is available in the proper place at the proper time he will eat.

your pet got used to eating in your hand, so give it to it in a bowl even if it doesn't eat don't give her/him food because they'll get used to it, so they are at least gone a starve for 2 days after that they'll start to eat :)

I think you can put your hand over a bowel and he will still eat from your hand then after 2 times try to put some in your hand and some in the bowel with your hand over or near the bowel . then after 4 times , i think he will be ok .

put his food on the Floor and put water in a dish and don't worry he will learn or he will starve

i wouldnt worry..my yorkie is the same..well he is like it with food and if my lil baby wont eat from a dish then mummy hand feeds him and if people dont like it thats tuff its better than him starving hehe i fuss over all my dogs

Just put the food in the bowl and leave it. If your puppy is really hungry, it will eat. Your puppy will get spoild if you keep feeding it with you hand

That's what happened to my dog. have a small towel put the water and food on the towel, tip the bowl over just a bit so that some food will spill onto the towel, my vet said that most Yorkshire terriers [[that's what the breed of my dog is]] dint like the smell of the food. So that's what i did, ignore his moaning and whining and don't give him human food.

You can pour a little olive oil on the food to give it a little flavor. A raw egg mixed in gives a little more flavor and helps build muscle. My boxer would only eat from my hand too. She was losing weight, then her doctor told me to try olive oil, which helps skin and coat, or the egg which give protein. The water you may have to touch to her face or spill on the floor, my boxer liked for her water to be on the floor for some reason. Good luck.

wen eating gradually swich him ova 2 a bowl.have him eat out of ur hand 4 a week then the next week show him tht u pik the food out of his bowl then the next week feed him a little and decrease the amount each week.finally just leave ur hand by the bowl and tht should do it( then wen hes used 2 the bowl take ur hand waway) if tht doesnt work ask at petsmart or petco(they no about junk li,k this hopefully) or ask ur vet.GOOD LUK!!!
