My minpin is housebroken and she has a dog door but she still sometimes goes in the house.
Why?
Answers:
A Min Pin is never totally house broken. They are not partial to cold or damp weather due to no undercoat. Many will continue occasionally to go in the house. If this one goes just sometimes consider yourself fortunate. It is most likely because at the moment she does not feel comfortable going outside.
Afte she eats put a leash on him string it through the door and take him out on a poop walk. encourage him with a key word like go on
And I would and have gently guided ther nose to it and praised them lavishly in order to asscoicate that this is the right place to go p/u and bring him bck inside repeat the process till he gets it but by being nice to her afterwards she knows i still love her but she made a mistake,
One she has to when Im not around
While he is inside
limit his eating to little little snacks and minimal water in the bowl
keep him leashed up or crated when you have to take your eyes off Sorry "she " lol
I onced lived in a Hi rise near the freight elevator so I trained my dog this way to go and excercise once at early evening
She is ol now 12 and she has the sense to at least go on the kitcken ceramic tile whereits easy for me to clean
up, just pee mostly but i have a cat too and have to leave water
When she goes inside take her too it and give her a firm No !
With my dog
I pet her anyway to show her im not staying mad at her.
I point at it and still tell her no her, then ears go down so she gets it
Aslo sleeping with you at nite on the bed will keep her from going at nite in the house
Sound like you need to get heron a scheduleFeedin taking out schedule
Probably marking behavior. If she just does it on walls or the corner of things then this is marking. If she swats in the middle of the rug and goes then this is just peeing. In both cases the correction is the same. You need to catch the dog in the act, scoop it up (the dog) and take it outside all the while saying something like "potty outside". Never direct any anger towards the dog. If anything you can direct the anger and displeasure at the spot of potty. Catching the dog in the act is the key as you will not be able to correct the behavior after the fact.
i dont know the answer to your question but i also have a min pin and man----she is a brat. i think the breed

My mini pincher just had puppies. Any advice?
Answers:
if just born than if you intend to tail dock than it needs to be done 2 to 5 days of age and declaws removed. Ear cropping is done at 4 to 6 months of age not before. Reason is to ensure that they are cropped to appropriate size of the dogs appearance. Leave them natural and if anyone that receives them from you want cropped ears they can deal with this themselves.
Let dam and pups alone with secure place for as much peace and quiet as possible. The dam will leave the pups to eat and drink and rest on her own. Do not worry about this, she will take carry of what needs to be taken care of. Try not to overhandle for the first couple of weeks and do not let the pups go til at least 8 weeks of age. Socializing by the dam is required. Weaning is more than just when a pups starts to eat dry food, it involves the imprinting by the dam which in fact can take up to age 12 weeks. Good luck.
Make sure mum and puppies are in a quiet place that is warm with some clean dry bedding. You should take her to the vet for a post natal check in the next 24-36hrs. Ask your vet how you should be raising your litter and what to expect if you don't already know. Make sure mum is having puppy food while raising her litter.
at the age of 3 to 5 days you need to have the tails docked if you are going to have it done. have fun with them. handle the puppies as much as you can so they like being with and being handle by people. I live in the USA so it is not illegal to have to have the tails. ears can be cropped at 8 to 12 weeks of age. there are some of county in some states that do not allow it done.
Yeah, learn to spell Miniature Pinscher and SPAY her!
Maybe call your vet. Pray that you don't lose the Mom and the entire litter because you are CLUELESS!

My mini pin is having physiological pregnancy?
WHY? we took her to the vet and he confrimed it, she has milk, and shes swelling, but she is NOT pregnate. They checked, they say that they can imagine it, and like people, if you think about something hard enough it happens. How long do you think this will go on for? and how od dogs know what babies are? she has nevr had any? This in confusing? help, the doc tried to explain as much as he could.
My big Doberman trys to get near her and she attacks him (Shes the alpha leader, even though she weighs 6 pounds, and hes almost a 100, she wins bc shes older, 4 years older and meaner) but she was never this aggresive, can i like give her a fake one, and after awhile take it away so she stops? How LONG!

Hi Chris....yea, it is possible for them to have a false pregnancy. Why? Who knows, but it should last that same amount of time as if she were really pregnant. Good luck with breeding her. I am looking for another Dobie myself. Have one already that is 18 months and is very spoiled. We have always had 2 at a time, so this one has really got it made.
I think you mean a "psychological" pregnancy. But that's beside the point.
Make no mistake: she didn't "wish" this into existence. Dogs don't "want" to be pregnant. If they are they are, if they aren't they aren't.
A false pregnancy is the result of hormonal imbalance -- that's what she's experiencing. The easiest way to stop it is to spay your girl -- no uterus/no hormones, no hormones/no false pregnancy.
You can give her a little stuffed toy to "baby" to help her through it -- oftentimes this occurs within the normal gestation period (63 days) after a heat cycle, and can last several weeks.
Yes, dog-aggression is quite often part of a false pregnancy...like I said, those hormones are ragin'! My friend's b itch had horrible false pregnancies -- she would make a "den" under their back deck stairs, and every time their (neutered, oblivious) male walked down the steps, she's reach through the spaces and bite his feet!
Seriously -- the easiest way to stop this is by spaying. It will be a lot easier on her -- physically and mentally -- if she doesn't have to endure it. Probably be a lot easier for you, too!
It isn't like she wants it so much she made her body think she was pregnant so much as her body told her she's pregnant. Some dogs go through a complete pregnancy all the way through lactation. This website has some information about it http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_can... You can google "canine false pregnancy" for more links.
Was your mini pin mated when she came into heat?
Our mini corgi was in heat, she was showing signs of pregnancy - when we took her to the vet, the vet said she had no puppies because the xray didn't show. 2 weeks later she had puppies - evidently the vet set the xray at the wrong intensity and went straight through the pups bones.
Anyways if it is a false pregnancy, it will go away approximately a month or two depending on when you spotted this. She will develop all the sign of a pregnant dog. It happens in unspayed dogs who comes in and out of heat due to a buildup of the hormones. If you are not planning to breed her, then spay her. If it happens once it can happen again and believe me it can get painful for the dog if it is not relieved. You can put warm packs or ice packs - to relieve the pain for her in the swelling of the mammary glands. Eventually you may even see signs of her nesting or gathering toys together as if they were her pups - once again spay her if you are not going to breed her.
I have heard stories of some dogs actually believing that they are in labour.. Could go on for a while.. If you get her spayed it might be a good idea.. Then you won't have to go thru this..
Here's the kicker tho... If she does this, and isn't spayed or bred. Her body is not washing it's self clear ... She is a dog that is more likely than some to develope pyometra.. My vet said, that a dog that has false pregnancy is at higher risk of developing pyometra than a dog that doesn't.. Your dog is at higher risk cause you have one that is producing milk and swelling and actually had you convinced that she might be pregnant..
* The word pyometra can be divided into two root words
o Pyo means pus
o Metra refers to the uterus
* Pyometra starts after a dog goes through a heat cycle, usually within about 3 to 5 weeks
* Stimulation of the uterus with abnormal levels of hormones (estrogen and progesterone) cause the lining of the uterus to become thickened and fluid accumulates inside the uterus
* Infection develops in the uterus
* As the infection progresses, the uterus fills with pus
* If the pet has closed pyometra the cervix is not open and pus cannot drain to the outside
* If open pyometra is present, the pus can drain through the cervix
* The infection is life-threatening; closed pyometra may cause a pet to become more ill than open pyometra
* Pus may or may not drain from the vagina/vulva (see photo below)
* Increased thirst/increased urination
* Enlargement of the abdomen as the uterus fills with pus
* Lethargy
* Poor appetite
* Weight loss
* Enlargement of the abdomen
* Fever
* Dehydration
* Clinical signs are variable from pet to pet

My mini dachshund will not stop barking!!?
she is three years old and she will not stop barking no matter what I do!! I ignore her, I sternly tell her to stop, I muzzle her rarely (she barks and trys to bite other dogs), I do everything spray water EVERYTHING that training books and other people say to do it does not work.She barks at people all the time just walker bys and she barks nonstop at a dog even when the dog is long gone..she barks all the time when maintenece comes sometimes they can't service us... She is a very nice dog but she hates tall people and has a phobia of any dog larger than her and she is quite small (when she was a puppy she was trampled by a very large dog) What should I do to prevent her from barking?
Answers:
I would try some extensive socialization. Bring her to a dog obiedence course. Where she will see lots of dogs and hopefully after a while she'll be unphased by the site of a dog. As for people I would take her to busy places for a few minuets at a time and if she is quiet for a sec. reward her. Places you could go where there are people is like Petco. Mabe if she sees enough of them she will be bord of the situation and will pay no attention.
I'm sorry that I would have to say get a new dog. I'm afraid that this one sounds like it's...well...psycho.
Sorry to be the one to break the bad news.
I have a 1 year old dachshund that does the SAME EXACT thing. Let me know if you ever find something that works:) I was just letting you know, you're not alone and dachshunds are huge watch dogs!
have you tried the bark collars or wall hagging things that they have at pet shops..they don't hurt..they either spray a mist that smells bad of they make a high pitched noise that only your dog will hear.
Dang!!! This is exactly why I can't stand small breed dogs!!! Are you sure this isn't just her personality? I've been around 3 dachshunds for about 3 yrs. (my mother-in-laws) 2 out of the 3 of hers are just like that. However I must admit the 3rd one is sweet!
Good luck!
Your dog is behaving as a watchdog should. The excess barking is due to the fact that she has phobia of any dog larger than she is. You should consult a dog behaviourist. He/she can help you with your dog. There is a site called AllExperts. They have an area called Pets and in this area is another area called Dogs. The link is www.allexperts.com. Please go there and from there go to the main menu and then choose Pets and on the Pets page choose Dogs and on the Dogs page click on the word Dogs. Then you will see a list of people (Experts) who can answer many questions about dogs. There are several who can answer questions about training. They can help you. Please give them a try.
Bark collars work. For some dogs, the collars that emit a high pitched squeal when they bark are effective. For real bad cases, you need the kind that shocks the dog when he barks. I've used both kinds, both on doxies.
Its a dachshund thing, mine does it too but not that bad. Try to socialize her more with other dogs and people and reward her when she is good. We tryed a bark elimanator that put a sound out when she would bark but it didnt work she just kept on barking. You could also try to distract her with a favorite toy then reward her when she stops. You could also check out www.hotdogblog.com its ALL about dchshunds.
Your dog acts the way dogs act if they are not socialized with people when they are 2 and 3 months old and they are forming their personality. After 4 months changing their habits and personality are a very slow process and very time consuming.

My min pin wont stop peeing in the house?
Can someone please tell me how to get my min pin who is 3 months old to stop peeing in the house. I have puppy pads for him and have tried the litter box but they aren't working, I also let him outside frequently during the day bu the still comes in and pees on either the carpet or cloths in the dirty laundry. I can handle most thinkg with a puppy but peeing and pooping on my floors is not one of them and I am at wits end, either he learns that my hose isn't a potty for him or I am going to give him away and I don't want to do that cause I love the little turd.
Thanks

I have a 11 year old %26 4 month old. The best way is to cage train. The dog will probaly have a couple oopies but eventually get the picture not to do it where he sleeps. At night put him in the cage and while not supervised by you.I've been doing that with my puppy and it's working like a charm. The only thing is you have to let him out as soon as you open the cage so that they get the picture to releave outside. Also if you catch him starting to pee, hurry up and take him outside. when he goes praise him well with " good dog" and lots of petting. I tried puppy pads but that only encourages them to do it in the house. The only thing that puppy pads help is clean up. Most dogs are not fully potty trained till 8 months. They could even have accidents at 1year. Last but not least, the cage can not be too big. The dog must have enough room to stand, sit, and turn around. Too much room gives them space to do the dirty.
What you should be doing is training the little pud if you love her the way u claim to do. It is evident that she needs it,`and don't expect it to train herself, NO! You should be doing the training by conditioning it, associate her bad behavior with sth unpleasant and noisy(there are many ways) that is when you see it pee or poop in the house and when you take her out and she pees or poops reward her by giving it a treat, its all about training. Train it, make it learn, reward or "punish" it for its actions.
i would consult a dog training book and stick to it religiously. If you're still having problems, consult a trainer.
i had the same problem with mine but when i took him out he went to the bathroom but when i leave him alone yes i know that he was alone most of the day so i can expect this but ,i just tired of it he use to use to go number 2 in his place where i kept him and he get it all over him i finally gave him away,but he was a good dog he was still puppy,maybe try a doggie care class.
Like most new borns, they will go a few minutes after they drink or eat.
Develop a routine. Every time after he eats or drink, wait a few minutes and take him where you want him to do it. If necessary use a leash. Stay with him until he is done, then bring him inside. Praise him when he do it right, tell him NO strongly when he do it in the wrong place.
If necessary remove the food and water.
A 3 mo puppy might need 3 or 4 small meals a day so expect the same a mount of poop. As they grow up the time between bathroom breaks will get longer.
Remember always praise them when they do it were you want them to go. They will associate this and will learn to do it there to be praised.
Good luck with your new puppy.
I have a min/pin mix %26 she always went in the house until I crated her. After crating her, she was housebroken within a week %26 she is now trained to go on the puppy pads when shes inside and outside when she is out.
Thanks

My min pin pups I bred by my min pin male and the 4 week old puppies have med. length hair. Is this normal?
Will this fall out and be back smooth. They were born with slick coats. This is very odd looking. Does anyone have any answers for me?? HHHHEEELLLPPP!
Answers:
Evidently there was another male around at some time when the female was in heat. Min pin pups should only have smooth coats. I was a min pin breeder for about 4 yr.
Best advice I can give is to neuter.
A min pin should have sort smooth hair and should be 10 to 12 inches in height. If you want to check the standards go to www.akc.org.

My min pin is NAPDR registered. Can I AKC register her also?
Answers:
Absolutely not. Not unless both parents are AKC. Sounds like it was bred by a backyard breeder or a mill. Many "registries" are just a way for mills and bad breeders to paper the dogs. Only a few are legit. AKC, Canadian KC,
FCI.
Spay or neuter your pet and do your research next time.
NAPDR and APR are just a few of the fake registries that will paper any dog that applies. So you have no idea if the parents are really purebred or not.
http://www.wonderpuppy.net/kc.htm... This site gives some good info. on how to read Kennel Club initials.
Never heard of that registry. AKC will only register AKC pups.
Are her parents AKC registered?
If not, then no.
"NAPDR" is the "North American Purebred Dog Registry". It's just another scam registry that will give you a piece of paper that says "Yes, it's a dog, because you told us it was" if you pay them enough money.
The "registration" is worthless. This is their condition for registration:
"A PUREBRED DOG that does not have registration papers can be registered with the NAPDR. If you are 100% sure of your dog's breed fill out the information you know and write unknown on the other places."
They will register "breeds" such as "Malty Poo" and "Lhasa Apso Poodle" and "MinPinHuahua". AKA "Mutts".
What a joke. I hope you didn't pay extra for this.
The answer is no..not unless both parents are AKC registered and the ltter she was from was AKC registered.
I'm sorry too that you fell for the "registered" dog scam...your dog is not really registered. The "papers" you have are worthless...not worth the paper they are written on. They are from what is known as a scam registry.These are registries made by BYB %26 mills in order to "register" dogs that can't be registered in legit registries, who are registered in legit registries but were not suppose to be used for breeding or breeders who have been suspended from doing business with a legit registry.
