My nursing ***** has alot of ticks in her ears how should I remove them?
Answers:
"*Grab the tick by the head or mouth parts right where they enter the skin. Do not grasp the tick by the body.
*Without jerking, pull firmly and steadily directly outward. Do not twist the tick as you are pulling.
*Using methods such as applying petroleum jelly, a hot match, or alcohol will NOT cause the tick to 'back out.' In fact, these irritants may cause the tick to deposit more disease-carrying saliva in the wound.
*After removing the tick, place it in a jar of alcohol to kill it. Ticks are NOT killed by flushing them down the toilet.
*Clean the bite wound with a disinfectant. If you want to, apply a small amount of a triple antibiotic ointment. "
You may also want to use a tick control product, such as Frontline to prevent infestation. "Approved for use on pregnant or nursing mothers (approved for Frontline Plus and Top Spotåº only)" - the spray has not been approved.
take your beeyotch to a dog grooming parlor and tell them you want her ears cleaned, etc.
I've always used Vasoline for ticks. Just spread it over them and they have to get out to breathe.
i always just pull my dogs ticks out -
grip as close to the dogs skin as possible - and yank one time real fast - it always gets the head out -then smash or drown them in a cup of water n flush down the drain- they say you can put clear polish on them and they will back out but mine never do - so i have resorted to pulling them -
however you decide to remove them make sure she is outside not near the puppies so that the ticks do no go to another dog if you were to drop one
If you can reach them, try this. Take a q-tip and sopak it in methalated spirikts, then drop some onto the tick's head. Don't attempt to pull it out since that mostly leaves the head behind and can get infected.
My new puppy?
i got a king charles/cocker spaniel cross puppy last week and shes good enough but lately shes wont stop biting peoples feet or biting my shoes when im walking and its making my younger siblings terrified of her.also shes nearly house trained but every night she does about 5 or 6 poos which i have to clean up first thing in the morning, not very nice!im not sure how to train her to stop going at night or biting people.
Answers:
Well you have a small do so they are easy to train.
For the biting problem you have to get a water spray bottle, Create the action that causes the behaviour, when she bites squirt her with the water and say 'NO!' Don't use her name that will only confuse her. (this tells the dog her behaviour is bad).
Before you go to bed take her for a very long walk, and make sure she gets 'pooped out' (bet you didn't know where that came from) Then feed her and go to bed (one feeding per day) First thing in the morning take her out 'to get it out' (don't forget to praise her for a job well done). Dogs have an 8 hour digestive system so no more poo for you, if you follow my instructions.
Ewwwww dutty little dogs pooing everywhere, women?
For the biting u can either grab her by the snout and hold her mouth shut and tell her NO! loudly. Or get something called "biter apple" and when she bites spray it and she'll get surprised. It always works.
start crate trainging her now. Always put her away when people are there...She needs to know she has a time out space when she is in trouble.
about biting people...
they are teething like babies do so make sure you give them lots of toys! They bite because they don't feel confortable while their baby teeth are coming out...just like a baby
I have a sheperd mix and she does the same thing.its just a phase that all dogs go through.
You need to get her a crate and keep her in it over night. Dogs naturally don't want to go where they sleep. This teaches her to "hold it" until morning.
there's a reason you should not allow this behavior any more. Here's how to stop a puppy's nipping and biting...
While all puppies nibble and bite on your hands, your ankles, and everything else they can get their mouth on, you should not permit this behavior with you (or other people) for this one reason:
Biting says, "I'm more dominant than you."
Biting at a person's hand is the puppy's way of testing their dominance in the pack. (Yes, you are part of his "pack" now.)
Since there should never be any question that YOU are the Alpha dog, from this day forward you must never allow a puppy to nibble or bite at your hands (or feet).
How To Stop The Nipping
To break a puppy from nipping or biting:
Use your thumb and forefinger to roll the puppy's top lips under his teeth so that he bites down on them.
The puppy will whimper after he's bit his lip.
At the same time, you should adamantly say "NO!".
The trick is consistency. From this point forward, you should never let your puppy mouth on peoples' hands or nip at any other person from now on.
...It won't take long before puppy gets the message!
5-6 poops at night---wow!---if you are feeding her at night stop and take all water away after 8pm---if this doesn't help take her to a vet---this is not normal---a dog may poop 3 times a day roughly
for the biting maybe the pup is teething---try doggie teething ice rings, hard chew toys etc. and also try using the anti=chew spray (taste bitter to dogs) and spraying it on the areas the dog chews (the spray can be purchased at places like petco and petsmart)
well first off if she is biting everytime she goes to bite. give her a nice little swat..lol.. and about the pooing at night. evrytime she goes and you find it in the morning. take her over to it, and disapline her. and then when she has to go. put her outside.
Look up "crate training" with regard to the bathroom issues.
It is the process of teaching a dog to go into its crate on command and to be comfortable there while enclosed. Dogs, like all canines, are den-dwelling animals by instinct and a crate becomes a den substitute, providing a familiar and safe haven for the dog. A crate-trained dog benefits the dog and the dog's owner in a number of ways. A dog typically will not use the bathroom in its own crate and will learn to "go" where it is appropriate- for instance, outside.
As for the biting, you have to be diligent in telling the dog "no" and never letting him/her chew human articles or body parts. Diligence is the key. Be stern.
Good luck.
Well first off, when she bits say "No!" and give her a tap on her mouth. For the pooing problem. Get a cage and put her in the cage everynight and when you go out. So if she goes to the bathroom it's in one area. Also get up half way through your sleep to let her go to the bathroom. Also let her out a half hour after every meal, and let her out every 2 hours... I did this with my puppy, and he's a great dog!
dont let her watch T.V, by watching bad channels, she is behaving like this.
When she bites, just say "no" firmly. "Hey," "stop it" and the like work too. She'll figure out that you don't like it. Of course, give her toys. With pooping, that may be something you have to deal with. Crate training will help get her on a schedule, but you can't force her to hold her bowels at night. When you gotta go, you gotta go...
EDIT: Puppies can hold it for less time than adult dogs, so patience is a virtue here. Praise her a LOT when she poops when/where you want her to, and don't ever try to show her something she did and punish her. You have to catch her in the act.
Try and not feed her after 7.30/8.00pm at night depending on what time you go to bed. Also take her out for a 10 minute walk even if its in the garden just before you go to bed and keep repeating the word you use for her to go to the tiolet (ie I use hurry up for my boys when I was training mine) My dogs also sleep in crates and they tend not to poo in there own bed, some people do not agree with them but I swear by the crate training. Every night when I say bed time they automatically just go and get into the crate and they know it is time to go to sleep.
With regards to the biting I did not have this problem with my boys but I did have problems with barking so I put a few stones into a coke bottle and everytime they barked unnecessarily I shook it above there head and said no. Now they only tend to bark when they are telling me someone is at the door or at the back garden.
I hope this helps keep persevering the puppy is only pushing boundaries at the moment. Keep showing him that you are top dog not him
I have a king charles too. She's teething, hence her tendency to bite is strong... Give her lots of chew toys to distract her. Whenever she does bite, smack her lightly on her muzzle and give a firm 'NO BITING' and give her a chew toy instead. Praise her when she starts chewin on her toy and nt at your ankles/shoes. She'll soon learn that biting people's feet and shoes are a NONO.
You could try taking your dog for a walk right after her last meal of the day to allow her to relieve herself. After a while, she'll get used to the routine of pooing OUTSIDE the house. Just to let you know, puppies have the tendency to have weak bowel system. Wouldn last for long. Diet do play a part too. Would be good to keep strictly to dry dog food (healthier) . Refrain from feeding it with human food when its still a pup. Might trigger off some diahorrea symtoms in the dog.
the reason she's biting is probably because she's teething so get a chew toy and when she starts biting give her it then walk away slowly and don't run. As for the poop at night lock her up somewhere like the garage or laundry room sure she might bark a little but after a while she'll stop. In the morning the first person up should feed her then put her outside then after she has done her business bring her back inside. Also let her out before yall go to bed so she is sure not to poop at all! Keep doing this procedure every night , but also make sure you put her in the same place every time. That place will become their general area and dogs don't uranate in their area. After a couple of weeks she should be broken of the habbit but keep doing that same thing every night and morning or she will just go back into the habbit again.
Puppy's like to play just like children and when we train our children to something we do the same for the puppy speak a firm tone of voice and and say stop. Also tell your children to do the same.. Be sure to point at the pup if you have to he thinks he is playing. Puppys grow fast and need the training you give him. Kids need to help train him. Let the pup know you are the boss not it. If this does not work then use the ruff sound in your voice and touch the puppy not hit but touch him like hold him still and say NO! or STOP! it takes time and practice when the puppy sees the kids run and cry or laugh it gets him excited and thinks well this is all right. It does need to stop. as far as the wetting in the floor I take up the food before to late and take out to walk or in the back yard before going to bed and let out first thing in the morning also. Praise hime when he does it outside by good dog and pet him . or scarch him just enough to let him know that is good. You can also asigned the kids a job to do to help with the dog by letting outside and choires for if they are to have a pet they are to help to... hope this helps some .. have a good day. Oh Yes Watch dog wisperior on tv and the internet. GREAT SHOW AND HELPS WITH DOG OWNERS.. YOU LEARN ALOT FROM HIM...YOU ARE THE LEADER...SMILE

My new puppy won't stop peeing on the carpet! Help!?
I got my new puppy on Tuesday. She is a 6 months old Chihuahua. I bought the training pads for her but she refuses to go on them. She went #1, and #2 on it once but that was it. I bring her to the pad everytime I see her sniffing around, also when we wake up, before we go to bed, and after she eats. But nothing seems to help. I have tried to clena the area in the carpet with the deoderizers that I got from Petsmart along with a spray to tell her where she can go. I have put a baby gate up to keep her in the kitchen but she refuses to go there also. I am wanting her to only go to the bathroom inside the house. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
Answers:
well every puppy is a comotion, of course they will pee everywhere.
There are many diffrent methods of handling this. If u have a dog trainer, tell them and they have good methods.
What I know is what I learned with my dog when he was a pup. everytime he pees tell him no in a little stern way and put him out side or a little time out area for a minute so the dog knows it is doing something wrong.
also what u have to do is watch him like all the time. Everytime it looks as if he's going to pee, take him outside and stay with him until he performs then praise him to the skies. If he does pee in the house, you need to remove every trace of urine or he'll keep using that spot. You should also reward him every time the dog pees outside. There are many ways like I said. Teaching a pup isn't eay but they will eventually learn. I am a dog lover so I no a lot about dogs. I have listed links of my source and they will hopefully help u. Good luck :)
get her into a training class, quick
what? u want her to go only inside your house? it should be outside, and get a trainer
6 months she is still a pup and may require a little more time.
I know you said you want her to go in the bathroom but, is there a reason why you don't take her outside to go? Grass is ten times better than a puppy pad. I have to take my puppy down three flights of stairs every three hours to pee but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Get a crate and crate train - it is much much faster that way. Puppy pads don't work, I've tried em too.
Hi there! I have a new puppy and I have been having similar problems. I found a product called Odorcide. It has really worked great. My puppy started using the same spots my former dog had a few accidents in. This product will work on any surface , and eliminates the odor from the carpet and pad. I tried everything from the pet stores and nothing worked. This has really done a great job and it also did a great job of removing all other odors from the carpet. I have only had it a couple of weeks but I can already tell it has made a huge difference. I can't remember the name of the site but I think I just typed in Odorcide and found it.

My new puppy is crapping dark green poop. He just started last night and this morning. I gave him Evo Innova?
puppy food (wet). Could this be the cause of it?
Answers:
I use Innova Dog food, and I noticed that when I fed my pup ONLY wet food .. her poo was so gross. So I just mixed up some dry Innova WITH wet Innova. She doesnt eat just dry food so the wet helped with her poo and she loves it.
no canned food.. no reason to feed that... try dry kibble only
Any time you give your pup new food its going to react to it. It's probably the food butyou should really get the pup into the vets for a check up and his shots too.
FOOD IS TOO STRONG FOR HIM, TRY THE SMALL BREED FOOD, IT HAS SMALLER PIECES, ALWAYS DRY FOOD, BE CAREFUL OF THE BRAND YOU PICK, READ THE LABELS, AND ALSO, WHEN TRAINING USE AKC, TREATS, BETTER AND LESS SALT, THE MORE SALT IN THE TREATS THE MORE WATER THE PUPPY DRINKS, THE MORE ACCIDENTS TO CLEAN. :)
HE IS HAD CHEESE
His liver is having trouble with the new food.
Since this is a new puppy, the seller should have given you a supply of the food that the puppy was on before you got him. It is very important to continue with that food for 4 or 5 days before making any food changes.New puppies and food changes can be too stressful and even cause death. You must remember that you and your entire household are all new to him. That requires some mental time for a puppy to take in, and most will loose their appetite as part of the adjustment. Continue with the old food, and you will notice that he will likely resume eating after a day or so.If the seller did not give you a supply of food, call as ask what they used and ask for a small supply for a couple days. Responsible stores and breeders always send some food with a puppy. Make no food changes until he gets accustomed to his new home and starts eating normally.
You don't say why you chose Innova--perhaps for no particular reason just trying to find something he will try. If that is the case, wait and go back to square one. I
You probably gave him too much too soon. You should mix the Innova with his old food for a couple days if you plan to continue with the Innova--70 % old food to 30% Innova for 2 days, then 50/50 for 3 days, then 70/30 a couple days.
Evo Innova is a very good food and is high in protien. I use it on nursing moms to help their nursing needs. I mix it with what ever kibble they are used to.
If you switched food all at once then you just shocked his little system and it needs to adjust to the new food. You could try mixing the food with some kibble. Innova does make a good kibble. Just wet food is not the best idea.
You could also just wait a few days and see if it resloves by itself.
You should also have your vet run a fecal flotation on some poop to check for parasites. This should be done with any pup if it has not already.
If he is otherwise active, eating and has a clear fecal flotation and, after a few days, still has green poops then the food may not be right for him even if it is an excellent food.
take it to the vet.

My new puppy eats her POOP!?
I have a new shih tzu puppy and I have caught her eating her poop three times now! I have read a lot about it and most people say that it is because of bad nutrition. I however feed her science diet puppy small bites at which I believe is the best kind of dog food. She eats very well and never goes hungry. I always leave some out for her so that if she gets hungry it is there. What can I do to get her to stop eatting her poop?

Usually it's not the food. Don't put anything IN your dog's food or on the poop. It doesn't work. Some people suggest MSG, which will eat a hole in your dog's stomach. The best thing to do is clean it up ASAP. I would also get her to the vet and get her checked out for worms.
Mine are on premium diets and extremely healthy. They prefer theirs frozen...
It's just something that puppies do...
Don't let her - When she goes, pick it up and keep the yard clean!
give her a small amount of pineapple in her food,,it works trust me,,,,,
Check the pet store for sprays that make her poop icky to taste. Clean up after your dog.. don't leave the poop wherever it may be.
And letting food out all the time isn't good because most dogs overeat, even if full.
that is a horrible dog food, sorry. It is mostly made of grain and your dog cannot digest grain. Feed her Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul instead!!!! That is a MUCH better food! She may also have worms, so get her wormed.
We have shih-tzus too that do this! There's a couple of great products out there though where you can powder their food so that it makes it taste/smell undesirable when it comes out the other end. They are called Deter and For-Bid and I think they are flavorless when they eat it.
You can also sprinkle garlic on their food, I've read. I'm just not sure about that because I can't see my dogs wanting to eat the garlic in the first place.
Props to you for using Science Diet- my mom works there and we also believe it's the best!
First try puting tobasco sauce on her poop second if it doesnt go away it is called coprophagia and there are pills you can buy at your local pet store that make the poop taste and smell bad to your dog
Most common reason for eating stool is not enough nutrition in the diet they eat the poop to redigest the already broken down nutrients to make them easier for digestion. You can try a multi vitamin!
Stay away from garlic it can be harmful to dogs, just like onion , grapes, and chocolate...they only need or should have the small amount that may be added to their dry food already
eew nasty lol... well whenever you catch her eating it, tell her NO (in a firm voice) and spray some water on her body (from a spray bottle). hopefully it should eventually get her to stop. there are other ways to train dogs, so u could try them, i just can't think of any right now.
good luck ~
i think thats normal for a puppy
I would not feed any of my animals Science Diet! Do some research on the food and you'll find out why.
The dog eats its poop probably because it has a vitamine diffeciency. This is normal in dogs, but you need to feed a better food and make sure the dog isen't exposed to fresh waste.
You can also try something called Deter.
I feed Wellness to my cat and dogs because it has essential vitamines in it.
my dog used to do that if he went in his cage when he was a puppy. I crate trained him. He finallly got over it and stopped. It's just a puppy thing. Science Diet is great food and u arent doing anything wrong. Make sure you pick the poop up out of the yard
when my puppy started eating his poop I put his nose up to the poop and made him sniff it and then I slaped his butt and told him NO BAD DOG.(his name is Dozer)(a American Pit-bull)
Simple solution pick up the poo as she poos. You can use a shovel or a bag to do this. Viola problem solved.
FYI Timber Wolf Organics is great great food. Science Diet is nothing but crap junk food for a dog.
I have 2 dogs and only one of mine does that!!! I heard it was cause of bad nutrition too...I use Eukanuba! I'm in the same boat as you...let me know what works for you.

My new neighbours dog keeps me up all night?
I live in an apartment building and a new couple moved in next to us a few nights ago. They have a yappy dog that barks all night long, keeping my boyfriend and myself up all night. It's driving me crazy! I have to wake up early for work every day and I can't funtion without sleep. Problem is, I haven't even met my new neighbours yet...and I don't want to seem like a b!tch especially if there's nothing they can do about the dog.
My first question: is it possible to get a dog to shut up? Is it possible to train a dog not to bark all night long? I never owned a dog so I wouldn't know
Secondly: How do I deal with this problem without seeming like a b!tch? I don't want to move. The apartment is spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and is great value for money. Plus I signed a lease that doesn't end until September.
I don't want to go directly to the lardlord, not yet anyways.they deserve the chance to fix the problem before it gets to that point. What should I do?
Answers:
You should take the time out to go over and politley introduce yourselves to your neighbors. Maybe take a welcoming gift too. Then once the formal introduction is done, nicely tell them that their dogs are keeping you both up at night and ask if there is something they can do to stop them from barking. It is possible that the dogs are not use to their surroundings yet and will stop once they are. Let them know you dont want to involve the landlord cause with proper communication, this is something they can fix. Tell them that others in the apartment building might not be as understanding and may complain. Thats it. Change the subject and enjoy your stay.
just call the cops
you should buy some earplugs if that doesn't work than i don't know
sausages + rat poison = quiet, sleep-ful nights
Welcome your new neighbors with a baked gift. This will open up a conversation about their dog. It takes about 2 weeks for a dog to adjust to the new smells and noises of his home. Good luck.
Telling your neighbors is not being a b!tch.
if you don't say anything it's not going to stop.tell the people that own the dog to put a muzzle on their dog at night.that wouldn't fly with me.remember you were there first!
The easiest thing in the world is to talk to each other. Communication is 90% of the solution of the world's problems.
Buy a bunch of flowers, knock on their door. Welcome him as new neighbours, and politely ask if you could talk to them about a concern of yours.
Tell it as it is, but be polite and calm.
There are ways to make dogs stop barking, but YOU can't do it for them. Only the owners can do that.
As a landlord we prefer if you come to us first,as to avoid neighbor to neighbor conflicts which we hate. As their landlord he/she will be able to resolve this issue with out you being involved and without using your name. Many times we will say the maintenance was on a service call in the middle of the night and heard the dog barking. And even though the neighbors have not complained you know it has to be bothersome blah blah... you get the point. Good luck
Introduce your self to your neighbors. Then politely say, "I don't mean to be rude, but is there any way you can get your dog to stop barking all night. It is keeping me up and I have to get up fairly early in the morning for work. If there is anyway you could control this, I would be very grateful." You could even write this in an anonymous letter to your neighbor.
u'd better talk about with ur landlord, my dog is better, she only bark while she is thirsty hungry and want to play with her~~~~~
First of all break the ice with your new neighbours, invite them to dinner become good friends, then after a bit politelyt ask them if they could do something about their dog such as saying: "I'm sorry to say but we were wonderign what's been going on with your dog? he seems to be barking a lot lately at night, and we were just wondering..." They should try to get it to shutup.
Now if this doesn't work then this will never fail
Step 1: Buy a gun.
Step 2: Visit the dog.
So don't be the b itch neighbour.. What you do is go next door with a gift.. Cake or whatever.. something nice but don't over do it... You go over as the nice neighbour welcoming them. They'll ask you in and they'll introduce you to the dog. After some idle chit chat, you bring up the dog and it's barking and let them know that not you but there are people in the building who aren't exactly the animal loving types... They are likely to get a whole lot of complaints if they don't keep him quiet.. You don't care but you thought you would let them know what the talk is around the apt building.. Let them think that you know the dog barks, you aren't impressed, but you aren't the problem, it's some of the others in the building.. You are now their friend and they have a common bond with you, and they are afraid to get kicked out and they try to keep their dog quiet.
That way you have warned them, and let them know that the dog is bugging people.. When you need to tell the landlord later about them, IF they don't shut the dog up, it's not coming directly from you, but the building in general.

My new little chihuahua has one eye that isn't as "bulging"like the other...will this resolve on it's own?
Baby is 3 months old and is an "apple head"...precious with a great personality...so sweet...I will be taking her to the vet this week but I am do not know much about this breed and their idiocecrencies. Any special foods to avoid?
Answers:
Look up chihuahua and put in America and Club This is the parent club who protects its breed. Find health problems so you know what to watch out for.
I would read all through that section, especially the part of how the teaspoon, teacup, and miniature Chihuahua's are actually unthrifty runts of the litter that were allowed to breed until mostly what was born were runts. Cute ? you bet !!! Healthy ? heck, no ! The people who bring these pathetic things into the World are thinking about bucks, not the health of the tiny dog or the problems the owner will have.
My Chihuahua was a sturdy little guy and weighed a huge 4+ lbs ! ha, ha ! The only problem Moochie ever had was the soft palate and he would make a snoring noise when excited, so I'd pick him up and make him calm down. He couldn't get enough oxygen and I always just knew he'd have a heart problem and die from lack of oxygen ! Nope, he lived to be 17+. Moochie got weak one day and slowly died the next day - the vet cried as there was nothing she could do either, just everything was too old and the organs were failing. So, she helped him to the Rainbow Bridge... and my heart was crushed, and I cried for a week.
If your pup's eye is not bulging, this may be the good eye!
Eyes on dogs like Chi's can become enucleated. protrude out of the socket - which needs immediate attention to 'sew' the thing back in ! It happened to my niece's Chi - Pom cross and my poor 8 year old neice was screaming so much I couldn't understand her. I thought 'her' eye had popped out, not the dog!
It is also possible, that this is how your Baby girl will be.. or as she grows, you will not notice it as much. Sometimes parts grow faster than others.
Little Tess also need surgery on her ACL on the rear curve above the hock, a bladder stone and urinary tract infection. I understand these are common things. Tess went on reverse osmosis filtered water and could not have certain foods. She lived to be 15. She was great with my niece as she was going up.
Your breeder should give you a small book or a put together manual on the breed and care.
Also, if there is a health problem, you need to get the vet to write this down on letterhead and go back to the breeder on this. Your puppy should be guaranteed still at this point, if there are problems.
Just let the breeder know ASAP so they can make amends with another puppy, money back, or pay for part of the vet bill to get Baby healthy.. a responsible breeder will do this.
If not, go to the Chihuahua Club and akc.org and have fun reading !
WOW ! are you going to have fun with a new little pup ! Such Joy !
Maybe...
But if not...
You can put a neat embroidered patch on that eye, and win cute dog competitons ($$$)...
And regular and costly visits to the vet will definitely solve the eye problem...
But kill your wallet...
To even them out, push gently on the bulging eye until the other one bulges to match. If you hear a POP, stop.
Please don't really do this. It's probably just a little gas from the foods you were supposed to avoid.
SEE YOUR VET!
Why did you get a Chi? What the heck does the head matter?
At three months old the one that is not bulging may be fine and the one that is bulging may have an infection behind it. This needs to be looked at by your vet.
