My neighbours dog keep urinateing on my house entrance?

we told them to make him stop called the dog catcher and the even the police but they cant do nothing to stop him
what can i do other then to kill the dog
and if nothing can be done to stop him from urinateing on my house entrance whats the best way to kill him
Answers:
They have sprays and granules to keep dogs and cats at bay you can purchase them from PetSmart.

Or you can mix ground pepper and water together in a spray bottle. Make sure the smell is pure pepper. Spray this on your entrance. The smell will keep the dog (and cats) away.
put a bear trap on your porch lol
Sprinkle down some red pepper around the area. Dogs will sniff before urinating and the pepper will burn the lining of the nose enough to "tell" the pup to move on.
Ugh. You can get dog repellant products at the pet store but they don't always work.

Best would be some kind of booby trap... something that will startle the dog out of its wits without actually hurting him. If he's terrified that your entrance might "attack" him, he'll never go near it again.
lol, kill the neighbour - it's not the dog's fault that his owner is an inconsiderate to$$er!
this is a terrible answer, yet, as a last resort, put out some anti-freeze for him to drink, and that will be the end of your mystery pisser !!
Go to the farm store and get an electric fencer. Does not harm animals but discourages them.
Scrub the area down with clorox wash, spray some pet enzyme, and then add some cayenne pepper. If this doesn't work get a Pit Bull!
Wait don't kill him! One way is you can put some kind of pwder or liquid on the grass that dogs hate. Ask a vet about what scent dogs hate. If that doesn't work put a big fence around your entrance.
Try a Scat Mat. Its a light weight battery operated mat that sends light shocks to an animal as soon as he steps on it. Although it can be pretty pricey you should be able to find one under 60$.

My neighbour showed me his new puppy today ...?

It's the cutest, tiniest thing you could ever see (shih-tzu/mini poodle cross). It is also six weeks old. Where did it come from? "Pet shop."

Another friend followed the same route a few weeks ago and bought from a (different) pet shop. Again, a puppy much too young to leave its mother -- and who knows how many health problems they will have, since both almost certainly came from puppy farms?

I am at a loss. These are both supposedly intelligent people, but they don't seem to realise how immoral and irresponsible it is to buy from pet shops. My question: Does any of you good people have any experience in campaigning/educating would-be pet owners against buying from pet shops? Please share, I work for a newspaper and I'd love to start an education campaign in my town!
Answers:
I tried with my sister and she learned the hard way. She went saying "I am not going to get one, just want to look" 20 minutes later she had just gotten home with her first puppy. They didnt ask her any questions, didnt tell her how to take care of it or anything.. just took her money and gave her a dog... Like a pack of cigarettes, or a loaf of bread.
After realising it did have health problems from being weined too young, she Finaly took my advice on the second one. ( quite a while later) I told her she can get a much healthier, much more trainable, and much happier dog, for less money if she went to a decent breeder. I told her that just supporting a pet shop is like giving money to dog-terrorism. She is supporting overbreeding of mothers, homelessness of puppies, and cruel peoples fat pockets.
Why not donate to a good cause like, bettering your breed and getting healthy pups into good homes.
She couldnt think of a good reason to go to the petstore.
Write an article talking about some of that stuff. Tell people what to look for.. What to ask.. and most importantly tell them why. Working for the newspaper you have an opourtunity to do alot of good with this one.
Try interviewing a vet.. and a good local breeder. I am sure neither would oppose helping.
If you do an article, be sure to post the link to the story.
Informational websites are good too. posting in chat forums... whatever it takes. You cant save them all but you can help a few and thats definately worth a shot if you ask me
Go to ASPCA Shelter Outreach and HSUS websites. They have AWESOME references for purchasing from pet stores!

Good luck. These people irritate me too!
is that all he showed you?
Ummm, I'm confused actually. Wouldn't boycotting just mean that all those animals would just be euthanized? Are you saying that in order to save the future of these animals, you have to sacrifice those in the present? I'm not trying to poke fun at your question, I just can't justify killing innocent animals to make a political or "take your pick" point. Even if you do boycott, let's say ONE pet shop in one are, it's just gonna close... wait for there to be a fesh market of "kids" or lonely people wanting a pet, and then re-open. Don't believe me? You should research statistics of pet shops in malls. Remember when you were a kid and went in and looked at the cute pets, and then a few years later the shop closed? Only to reopen again when you were a teen? then close? then reopen again, now that you ahve a small child yourself? I'm just saying, if you dont' save those poor creatures (at least one) they'll just be killed or used as chow for fighting dogs, etc. Then they'll just take the survivors and breed THEM for the next pet shop generation... Sad, but true...

Also, I don't think that saving two dogs by those two people you know is immoral!!! Leaving them to die and suffer: THAT is immoral. Sorry, but... yes.
I am about to open a pet shop myself. I understand what you are saying. I am trying to educate people the 'proper" way to care for animals, not just make a sale. ( I am learning myself every day) For that reason I am refusing to stock cats and dogs. I am instead refering all cat and dog sales to the RSPCA (animal shelter) I believe there enough cats and dogs in the world already without having to add to the burden, just to make money. Educate the pet shop owners, which will educate the people.

I find that a lot of people just believe what a petshop owner has to say coz they sell the animals. Doesnt' make it right
Good Luck!
firstly, theres nothing wrong with mutts. they can actually be better than pure breds because pure breds have smaller gene pools, therefore more genetic problems (i realise you didnt say there was - im just adding this in).

secondly, not all petshops do the wrong thing. I know plenty of petshops who buy from reputable breeders only after the pups are 8 weeks old and immunised and they take extremely good care of the pups they have.

people dont need to avoid petshops altogether. theres plenty of breeders who sell from their door pups who are under age or not immunised too.

therefore, it is not immoral or irresponsible to buy from a petstore.

what is immoral and irresponsible is not enducating yourself about dogs before you buy them, regardless of where they are from.
ask the petshop or breeder how old the pups are, and ask for immunisation papers on both the pups AND the parents.

AND you have a right to ask for vetinary history (and the vets phone number) on both the pups and parents - if the seller is unwilling to give it to you, dont buy the pups.

.
it cant realy hit home untill they see the devastating numbers of dogs with out homes, one thing i would be sure to do when educating people on this subject is show them first hand. it realy hits home hard, and it's very upsetting. http://members.petfinder.org/~ne13/index...
that is nebraska's website of compiled kennels and shelters all on one website, im sure your area has a site just like it, look at the site i have here to get an idea, the terrible thing about this there is more than on kind of every dog that needs a home all ages all breeds yes lots of purebreds, people dont realise, and babies too. if people realise that they realy can get what they want from a shelter, they wont need to look any where else. you have many people who support your cause, i wish you luck
When talking to people about their pets.. no matter what it is ( nutrition reputable breeding.. puppymills) you have to be kind...( which is a hard one for me because I feel so passionately about it I feel like people are morons who aren't aware!) I just have to remind myself that I once was uneducated about puppymills.
The second thing is know your facts. I personally use the time I walk my dog to talk to people. When someone is wanting to pet my dog on a walk.. I just make casual conversation that usually leads to talking to them about buying nutritional foods..staying away from petstore brands..) That happens to be what I try to educate people the most about)

Anyway... as long as you are educated yourself and the person is open minded you can do anything. Bottom line if someone doesnt want to hear something they aren't going to listen. And if it doesn't directly affect their lives they really do not care. So when they buy a puppy who dies from parvo or has some kind of genetic disease.. then they become interested in reputable breeders. Same with pet food.. it took a huge pet recall to make people become aware that they were shoveling **** into their animals mouths.
Unfortunately the idea is to not buy from petstores.. that spot that you free up by buying the puppy is just filled again with another puppy. If we do not buy from petstores soon there will be no market for them. Id like to think those puppies from petstores would go to rescue.. but the world is a horrible place and sometimes unfair things happen.
Plus I just wanted to comment about what someone said about they know petstores who get puppies from reputable breeders.. the breeder isn't reputable if they sell their puppies to pet stores... for anyone with the $$ to buy. A reputable breeder would keep those puppies and screen prospective parents very carefully. Bottom Line..
I have always warned people against buying pets from the petstores. In my local online forum, we've got tons of people who bought young pups, kittens, rabbits, unweaned parrots only to have them die a few days - weeks later.

These shop owners rarely have their animals' welfare on their minds. However you'd be suprised just how many people do not know the risks when buying a pet from a store rather than a reputable breeder.

Some don't really care much but just want to get a pet cheap so the petstore is their choice destination. Others buy a pet on impulse, they see a pet in the window and leave the shop with it, without doing much research or preparation.

Is it any wonder these pets end up on the streets or in shelters a few months down the road?

Since you work for a newspaper, run some stories on abandoned pets. That'll start the people thinking and then interview the local SPCA and ask them to provide useful pointers for potential pet owners.
Start by contacting a rescue like Dogs Deserve Better or Dogs A-Tavelling or one of the many breed specific dog rescues. Just google: dog rescue...I'm sure that you'll get a lot of answers to your question.
launch an animal saving campeign. ask your boss. go to www.amricancampaignanimal.com
You lucky I ask nebor if I can look at her ***** and she slap mi fase. I no no why peoples so reluct let stroke there pet.
Where in the world are you?

I only ask because I have never been to a pet shop that sold puppies (although some stock other live animals) - the message about puppy farms supplying pet shops seems to have got across to the British public.

Nowadays irresponsibly bred dogs are sold over the internet or through adverts in magazines, shop windows, newspapers etc.

If you work for a newspaper then you have a fantastic opportunity to highlight this problem and make a real difference (and sell an interesting article into the bargain!).

I would say though - make sure you research the subject thoroughly, check all claims from your sources - speak to experienced journalists as well as people that work in pounds and shelters so you don't get tripped up.

There's some clever people whose business interests would be harmed by your article - make sure you have your facts straight, don't exaggerate or you could do more harm than good as well as making yourself look foolish.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...

Raspberryswirl / flacca.

I don't think I can put this any more simply:

People will only continue to breed and sell dogs irresponsibly if people continue to buy dogs that have been bred that way.

Stop paying people to keep producing dogs in puppy mills, and they'll stop doing it. If you buy your dog from a pet shop then you are keeping this vile trade in business, condemning more animals to suffer the same fate.
Dogs from the pound can be very sweet but very nippy. your neighbours shouldn't have taken those pups. they could be sick. are they vaccinated?

My neighbor's dog's birthday is coming up. I want to buy him a Savings Bond. Can I do that? No social#?

My neighbor is all up on his dog. Its an Irish Wolfhound. Big dog! So every year, he throws him a birthday party. I mean, the dog does use the toilet for #1 and #2. Its quite impressive. On top of that, he can also get his own water and food, get the door, and he actually watches TV. So, its kind of cool. He even has a name. He calls him Dave and he says he uses their last name. But see Dave is not a US Citizen. Thats because Dave is a dog. So how can I buy Dave a Savings Bond without a social security number? The only gifts I give are Savings Bonds. Please do not respond if you are going to siggest other girfts. I want to know how I can buy Dave a savings bond.
Answers:
boy oh boy ,i seen and heard it all now, what kind of stuff are you on tonight.yes i know its saturday and alot of people are busy ransacking medicine cabinets, and meeting people in the alleys for happy pills and mary janes and all that stuff.savings bonds for a dog.!!!lol lol lol.hey its my guniea pigs birthday hell be 2 on may 1st i want to get him a savings bond.maybe if i bring hem to the bank hell sqeek to the teller that he can use a savings bond
Give him a last name and apply for a social security card. There it is it will solve your problem.
So Dave is here illegally or does he have his residency card since you mentioned he is not a US citizen. If he's an illegal, then he can't get a SS card. If he's here legally, tell your neighbor to take Dave to his local social security office to apply for a card. if people can get cards, then i think animals should too. then again, maybe I think you're better off getting Dave a gift card from PET CO.
You could use the owners name and social and tell them it is for the dog.
Personally, I would give Dave a huge hamburger patty and and put a candle on it. He would enjoy that much more...
I'm pretty sure you need a social security number so if your neighbor was willing (which I doubt), your neighbor could give you his SS# and you designate that the bond is for the dog.
the dog would rather have a pigs ear
I would use the owners name and just tell him it's for the dog. Because the dog can't cash in the savings bond the owner would have to do it for him so using his name and social would work best.
how bout one of those 2 foot long bones?
Okay...seriously, what would a dog do with a bond anyway?! Even if he CAN use the potty and watches t.v.do you think that he is going to go to the bank on his own and cash it in...go to the store and purchase things...quit smoking man!!
Go to your bank and buy him one .Give your friend as his guardian. Tell the people at the bank he is a dog. A four legged dog, but it is very important to you that you get him this.I'm sure they will work with you. Hey, it's money for them! You may have to have your friends SS# but I'm sure they will figure it out. Good Luck!
Here's a better idea for a gift.

Try operating a hairdryer while you are taking a shower.

That would actually be a great gift to me and the other PetQnA.com s users who think you are a moron.
you know why isnt there social security numbers for dogs and cats.maybe they need to start a petion for them to start doing it.they can use like 5 numbers for pets instead .after all they are part of the family.if you cant get a savings bond then why not a money order in hes masters name or a gift card for petco and then ur neigbor can take him shoping and let him pick out hes own gift.maybe he will know how to swip the gift card or hand it to the casher.he sounds very smart.good luck.hope u come up with a great gift idea.happy birthday to the smart doggy.
Simple: purchase the bond in your name, cash it, give proceeds to dog and/or owner.
Immediately thereafter, contact all villages in your area to see if they are missing their idiot.

My neighbors dog?

died on sunday and she said her dog couldnt drink with out puking and then her lungs got really hard and swollen could it of been lung cancer she had a tumor on her lungs on the outside of her skin help please she would really like to know ..... could she of been poisioned
Answers:
She could take the dog to the vet for a necropsy (autopsy) and they could check the dog out and see if there is anything in the system. It really could be anything, expecially not knowing what the dog could have gotten into or what it's overall health was in the first place. This is a prime example of why people should at the very least call their vet to see if it is something they think needs to be seen. And it could have been the tumor, again if she had taken the dog to the vet regarding the tumor they may have been able to remove it or see if it was causing harm to any organs.
im not so sure about that.. im sorry. but, the best person to ask is a vet. they know all the kinds of deseases for animals. you should really ask one, but if u ask me, it probably was a tumor. but dont believe it until u ask an expert. i hope u find out! good luck!
Sounds like your neighbor should have taken the animal to the vet. No way for us to know what was wrong. Other than your neighbor was wrong not to have taken the animal to the vet.
only a vet would know honey, she really should bring the dog to the vet. Sorry
it would seem that the dog has been poisoned but bring the dog's body to the vet and get a blood test to check for poison.
No way to tell unless you take her to the vet. But anytime a dog(healthy) is puking none stop it usually means they have been posioned. But if the dog had tumor i couldn't tell you.
If it came on suddenly, then chances are it's not cancer that killed the animal. Is it possible that she got into something? Antifreeze or something like that?

My Neighbors dog won't stop barking!?

Listen people, if you have a dog that you allow to be outside, or stands by an open screen door and does nothing all day but BARK BARK BARK, you are next to THE lowest form of life.

I'm ready to strangle the owner of this dog and then the dog.

So the question is, how do you tell someone to shut their #@(#@* dog up?

Should I call the police? It's in the middle of the day, people are running saws and stuff like that - yet for some reason it's this repetative constant barking that is driving me totally insane. Both my other neighbors are plotting to have the dog kidnapped, jokingly, like some of you may have seen in the Seinfeld episode. :)

Honestly, I don't know what to do. I really believe people like this must not have a clue as to how annoying they truly are, and are the 2nd to lowest forms of human life on this planet. Truly selfish people.

Got a hose? My neighbors leave there out there to bark too. I have five dogs and when they are done they sit on the porch (till somebody comes along for them to bark at) I have to let them right back in because of my neighbors dog raising hell mine want to eat theirs. Well anyway when they won't get theirs in and mine need to go out I stand with the hose and shoot it between the slats in my privacy fence.
throw him some food, bone something this should shut him up for a while
I have got the EXACT same problem , people can't walk past the gate without it running after them barking like a loony !
I think you should phone , it should be inside at night , my neighbour doesn't take hers in either !
GO ON !
PHONE THEM !
You have my sympathy. You need to check out the noise and nuisance laws in your jurisdiction. Try talking to the neighbors and if that doesn't work call the police. File as many reports as it takes before they finally do something. If they are oblivious to the police calls AND the police stop showing up for your calls---file a complaint at the police station. Get copies of all your police reports. Finally, if all else fails---sue them in small claims court.
You need to go speak with these people. I understand that is difficult because their reaction may be, 'screw you'. And then if you do ever call the police they will know it was you.
The neighbor thing to do is talk to them. Kind of gush on them a bit (also known as blowing smoke up their bum) and ask them to do something about the dog.
You cannot blame the owner. However much some people try.. a dog will bark if it wants/needs to. Thankfully I have a wonderful dalmatian that barks only very rarely and neighbors that hate animals!
Give the dog a big piece of tree bark. That will at least keep him quiet for a while. I have a dog that lives behind my house and the dog does the same thing. I got mad and picked the dog up and put it in my yard. The dog stopped barking and I got my work done. Later the neighbor thinks his dog jumped the fence and keeps him inside. Ha, I win. I love dogs, but some PEOPLE haven't got a clue.
Put one of these as close as you can to your neighbor's yard. They work and they won't harm the dog. This worked for me and my neighbor never knew about a thing.

BTW, the police won't respond unless it's after 10 PM and then you have to prove the dog has been barking non stop for a 1/2 hour or more. Try the SPCA or your local animal control. They may send an officer to see if the dog is being neglected.
The council should be able to do something if you can find the right person they may ask you to keep records of the noise or measure the sound level before taking further action, if a few neighbours complain its usually better - I had this problem once %26 just got verbal abuse when I aproached them if theyre ignorant enough to leave the dog out barking I wouldnt bother with them directly.
PS I wouldnt advise strangling the neighbour but if you must please leave the dog alone as he really doesnt know any better :-)
well first of all talk to your neighbor nicely. just say look i'm sorry to bring this up but work from home and your dog is interupting moy conferance calls during the day is there any way you can keep him in side from say 11-3. that wwould be a nice way to handle in, couse if you go over and be nasty she will get nasty back, us dog owners are like that. you can can the police but as long as it's during the day and he is not breaking and noise ordances( which are sound levels in decibals) which is almost impossible, the cops will tell you pretty much do deal will it. so you will end up frusterated. which isn't fair to you. but i was on the other end of the fence not so long ago, i was kennel training my puppy to sleep in the kennel so she wouldn't get in to everything and she would cry all night long, i honestly didn't thimk my neighbor could hear it through the fire wall and i really didn't want a dog in my bed with me and my husband, but after acouple months she nice brought it up in conversation. i was mortified. i quickly fixed the situation gave up on the kennel and let her sleep next to my bed upstairs. my neighbor will never hear her crying again. talking with her could fix the solution easy. some times we just don't relise it just say something and she will probablly correct it right away. if she is a B about, well kidnapp the dog:) good luck i hope you find the solution:)
I understand your pain, but then I have a large dog that barks too. The only time she barks is when other peoples dogs are running loose by our fence. So becareful before you confront the owners of the dog, it maynot be all the dogs fault. There are laws about dogs in city limits and so forth, but they are civil matters and most police departments won't get involved!
I hear ya! Some people just either have no idea their dogs are barking, constantly or they just don't care.

You'll definately have to bring this to the owners' attention. I don't know what kind of people your neighbours are, if they are nice types, try talking to them directly. If they're likely to have an attitude, then call the local council in your area (in Australia, that who we call and they send the "dog guy" out).

Relentless barking is a major problem and it's not the dog's fault.I'd say the poor bugger is bored out of his mind.

I hope you get this resolved. It really isn't a pleasant sound to hear, regardless of what you're doing.

My neighbors dog died barking, is that normal?

I feel a little guitly as mine and theirs dogs use to bicker on at each other for ages on end. He died of a heart attack caused by the barking and literally died midway through a bark. How could this of happened?
Answers:
He didn't die from barking, he died cause he had a heart problem, and was allow to get over excited and he died.. It's the dog owners fault, he should have known the dog had a heart problem and not allowed him to argue thru the fence.. But you should also teach your dogs not to harass and bark at neighbour dogs at the fence.. This builds aggression and animosity between the dogs, and one day ( if the dog didn't die ) they get together and they scrap it out..

Edit : Yeah dogs have heart attacks, and strokes.. What makes you think dogs don't have heart attacks??
Dogs dont have "heart attacks" i would worry about the cause if it was that sudden.

PS-Yes dogs die of heart failure, etc, but they dont have "heart attacks" like humans-they dont live long enough for plaque to build up on the arteries and break loose, causing the attack.
yes... If it was 3am
Hey people drop dead too, while screaming at their spouse or an idiot driver; it just happens. Stress is a factor. Could have been a stroke, too.
Don't feel guilty; you didn't cause it, sounds like squabbling with your dog was the high point of his days anyway.
Dogs can have heart failure and go into cardiac arrest - I should know, my dog died from that but it was an effect of the cancer taking over his body. I've never heard of a dog barking to death, but I suppose if its hot enough, the age, and/or the dog worked itself up enough that it could.
Must have made the neighbors happy! ;-)
Did you have your hands wrapped around its neck?
may it swallowed some substence and died suffering 2 breathe
There could have been another reason it was barking spasticly that caused a heart attack. Drinking coffee, amongst about 100 other things a dog can eat or drink that would have the same affect. Many things make their heart just about beat out of their chests, and they get easily adjitated, and freak out, then their heart can't take it.
Please dont beat yourself up over it, there is no way you could have known it was going to happen. A healthy dog with no problems will not die from barking.
could have been from many other health reasons like lack of care, heart worms. dental care or lack of, don't fret, you really don't know the age or history of the dogs health.

My neighbors dog (ausie/pit mix) is being neglected BAD.?

I have already tried contacting my local SPCA but they currently do not have a cruelty invistagator. (Ellis county, Texas) Dana (The women in charge of the SPCA) said to contact the fort worth people but she said all the owners have to do is offer food, water and shelter. This dog is chained on a long runner but they NEVER walk, play or give him love. He is about 3-4 years old and he has beautiful blue eyes. Sadly they do offer him food, water and a igloo dog house. I just went over there to love on him ( feel sorry for him and the neighbors arent home) and saw his water was empty quickly i filled it with water and grabbed a shedding brush (they dont brush him though he has a very smooth coat it is very hot and my dogs love it ) anyway i brushed him and gave him some water. i dont always love on him but when i get the chance i do. I cant take him in b/c it is there dog and they "love him" but i can guarntee you they dont. He is healthy and neautered. What should i do?!?
Answers:
your doint the best you can and thats good! Just keep it up and maybe walk him in a polite way. act like you are opening up a dog walking service and would like to walk him to see if dogs would behave that way you kind of have an excuse maybe you can walk you GSD and GR with him IF they get along well.
first try asking th eowners if they care if youw alk him etc..brush and water n feed him when their not around..if you dont have a pet you cna use this as a reason..tell them you lvoe animals but cant have any or anymore ..and youd like to help with theirs..also call the poloce if he is being left with no food or water...at least get this all on reports. good luck and im like you i hate seeing animals in that kind of invironment..
Try offering them 50. or something for the dog. I've never understood why people get dogs, and just throw them outside in a yard or chained up. They're not watch dogs, especially confined to a yard or chained, they usually forget about the dog and don't play with them, they're serving the owners no purpose at all that way, other then their selfish desire to own a dog.
Unfortunately the SPCA woman is right. All the owners need to do is provide him with food, water, shelter and veterinary care. Since the owners seem to do all of this, there isn't anything you can do.

I know its hard to see a dog living like that. You are doing good in paying attention to him. I'm sure he will love you for that, and at least its making his life better.
unfortunately do what you are and that is all that you can do.by law they are doing all they have to.it sucks for the dog but until some one changes the law there is nothing you can do..try offering them money for the dog if you can.maybe you can take him and find him a good home.but if they won't than you have to sit back and do nothing...
Some police departments do have an animal cruelty division. Try calling your local police department and see if they can do anything about it.
Technically he isn't neglected, or even a victim of cruelty. He has water, food, and shelter. If he isnt being harmed and is healthy, there is nothing (legally) worng with that.

While I dont agree with leaving animals outside, there is nothing you can do about it.

Are you friendly with the neighbors? Could you tell them you want to start walking and would like to the dog with? Maybe they would let you do that, and the dog could spend time with you.
This can be a very touchy situation. Do you ever talk to your neighbors? If not, maybe this is a good time to start some small talk. Try asking them questions about their dog. Ask them about the breed, his age, how well behaved he seems to be... While it seems like you're not doing much, your neighbors will get see that someone is paying attention to their dog. Many times, owners will start to take better care of their pet because they don't want to look bad. Sadly, if this doesn't work, there isn't much else you can do. If he is fed, has water and shelter then, there are no violations present. As long as you do not see any physical abuse or medical neglect, I think it would be wise of you not to push the issue but still pay attention. I hope it all works out and the dog does get some better attention soon. Have a good day!
First off, thank goodness for caring people like you. I am wondering if the owners would be open to you offering to walk/ play with him. I like the advice of the people who are wondering if your neighbors would be open to you buying him from them. Also, be sure to take pictures of him with the empty water dish and things when it happens. That would show documentation of the neglect. Maybe then you could send the case to the local SPCA since they don't have $$ to send someone out? Good luck.
First off, chaining an animal is cruelty to animals and can be something the police need to get involved with, tell them that they are never home to take it out and you never see it being treated humanely. (taking it for walks, giving it clean water, giving it the right amount of excersize etc. are all things that can be reported.)
Perhaps try talking to your neighbor in a diplomatic way, or even offer to walk the dog occassionally. You have to understand that not every pet owner lets their dog live indoors and finds it okay for a dog to live out on a chain. While I detest this as well, if the dog is fed and not in immediate danger then you probably will not get any attention. Sometimes it is better to just approach the owner in a friendly way and see what you can do to help. At least you will feel better.
I suppose you could just steal him and rehome him also, but then you would feel bad about the theft.
Thats so sad that no one can do anything about it unless the dog isnt getting food, water and/ or shelter! That poor dog needs some love and attention! Having a dog in a yard or on a run isnt enough! Even if that dogs has alot of room to run around a dog still needs to be walked and played with daily! I dont think I will ever understand why people like that even get pets!.. If I were you, I would call animal services for evey little thing! If that dog is out of water, I would call and say it doesnt have water.. things like that! I would just keep calling and keep calling untill someone comes and does something! It is not right for that poor dog to live like that! Dogs are social animals and they need to be with their "packs"... I would also go talk to the owners and let them know that it is not right for them to treat their dog like that!..That dog is very lucky that you live next door to it though! : ) I love to hear that there are still good people out there that really care about animals!.. I hope someone does something!

My neighbor is trying to make a Rottweiller puppy become mean. What can I do?

Answers:
Report them after taking pictures of what you are seeing. Rottweilers are very loving dogs when given the chance.
report them to the ASPCA-depending on the methods they're using, it is considered animal cruelty, and they would have the dog removed from their custody. It would also help if you had evidence, as the ASPCA has a very full docket, and don't jump on a problem right away without the proof that they need to. Also consider calling your local Police Department, as they usually have someone assigned to Animal Cruelty detail.
turn him in to the SPCA or your local animal shelter people. (the police won't really care.)
Call the SPCA. Before it's too late for that poor pup.
I'd say report them to the Animal control but they don't do anything, if you can't video tape it and get proof they are useless. My advice set the dog free and give him/her to a vet
Call the Human Society or Police, because that is in a sense animal cruelty but I am not sure if anything can be done where nothing has happened.
if he abuses the pup in any way you can call that animals rights organization Grr... cant remember the name of it ...
Depends where you live. In New York, for instance, that's animal abuse under state law and can result in a stiff fine and a jail sentence. Other states don't particularly care. Your best bet is to turn 'em in to the S.P.C.A.
Call Animal Control and/or the SPCA and report them for animal abuse.

Edit: what they are doing to this poor little puppy is terrible. Take a couple photos of their yard, the dog and his shelter. Animal Control will probably take the pup away from them, fine them and leave the puppy at a shelter. Once he is at the shelter, he will be vet checked and put up for adoption if all is well, then you can go and get him, if you want :-)
I am pretty sure that that would be considered animal abuse and you should contact your local spca or humane society right away.
You don't say if this is their own dog, or if they are tormenting someone else's dog. Either way, contact the nearest Rottwieller rescue group(google one) and they will give you the numbers to report this kind of abuse to the proper place. Good luck, and kudos for taking a stand!
Call your local humane society or animal welfare phone number the moment you view malicious violence. Your non-emergency police department number can usually direct you to the right number if you do not know it. Make sure it's an actual case of neglect or abuse though, do not make false claims or assume someone is causing harm, it makes cracking down on those who are actually doing damage take that much longer to be persecuted.
You can report them to almost anybody. The police, your local humane society, I do believe that there is a hot line you can call for animal abuse. Just try googleing it. Go to google.com and type in reporting animal abuse. There should be a bunch of links that pop up..check them out and you should be able to find a hot line or someone to contact in general to report it. It is very cruel not only to the puppy but to everyone around also. Puts people and other animals in a lot of danger! Good luck!
call your local game warden or animal shelter, if it were me id be confronting them myself because im totally against that, its people like that who ended up giving rottweilers their bad name.
You should contact Rottie Rescue and tell them what you know.. they'll be able to tell you the best way to handle the problem.

Edit: Oddly enough thru your description... If their intention is to make the dog mean, they aren't going to do well.. They will succeed in making it a fear biter possibly, but more likely it will turn into a quivering fearful dog that won't guard or protect anything at all. A protective dog is a dog that is socialized and knows and has been taught what is proper behaviour from people and what is improper.. Keeping a dog from people only succeeds in making them fearful..
Report it to animal control or the police, it`s ashame these dog`s get the bad name for this when it is their owners own stupidity! In situations like this the owner should be put to sleep!
report him to the police.
it is cruel to let them do that and you would be just as guilty if u didn't report it.
Call the SPCA and let them know the situation.
Report him to animal control.
Journal the dates/times/actions of the owner.

Take photos of him doing things to make the dog mean.

You need to get them involved now, before this dog becomes a danger...
call the local animal control if you feel you have good enough evidence to support your accusation. they will keep in check with you and go and check on the dog periodicly if they suuspect anything. and it could result in them taking the dog away if problems arise.
Well, you can call the animal warden or police. Or if it's really bad, nap the dog and filter it into one of the underground networks.
call the animal control report to cops...fill something out they have to do some thing then.the dog sounds like it needs out ...last week.
Lock your neighbors up with no water or human contact and see how they like it. while they are living it up silence of the lambs style, spoil the dog
call the police, there probably growing weed in there basement...haha!! Some people just don't understand the responsibility of owning a dog...it's sad! Report Abuse..over and over again till somethings done about it. And then when they do remove the dog, then go down to the shelter and adopt it and give it lots of love!
Please report it, no one has to know it was you if that is what you are worried about, This puppy will grow up angry and eventually hurt someone and the dog will end up being destroyed because of a irresponsible owner, I would call in a heart beat I am against animal crulty and someone has to look out for them they dont stand a chance,

My Neighbor Is Selling German Shepard Pups. What Should I Ask About The Litter Before I Take A Puppy?

So, a neighbor of mine is selling a litter of 7 week old German Shepard puppies. I told her that I am interested in one (particular) female puppy but I'm not sure what I should ask about the litter. I know that they are APR registered (is that a good register?), have their first set of shots and are wormed. She has around 4-5 females dogs and just the one male dog. She seems to constantly have puppies available for sale! I have always loved the breed but as I already have a 9 year old Greyhound and a 4 year old St. Bernard, I haven't thought of getting another dog until lately. What should I ask about this litter and how do I pick out a healthy puppy? I want a specific girl but I want to make sure her personality and temperament will suit mine. She said that any dog would be good for me but that doesn't give me a clear idea. Also, should I be worried that she used a shock collar on the mom of this litter for the first 6 weeks of her pregnancy and could it effect my puppy?
Answers:
You should be commended, not condemned, for wanting to take a puppy from this woman. Garauntee you it will have a better life with you than with her.

To check temperment of the pup you want, pick the pup up, lay her on her back in your arms, and watch her reaction. The pup you want will not squirm or stare at you but will be calm and attentive.

As for health, check their ears for dirt, check her weight, and tent her skin to check for dehydration. Check for fleas and ticks and ask to contact the vet she has taken them to. Ask the vet about the general health of the pups. Make sure the contract you sign to buy her doesn't have any breeding stipulations and has a clause in there that has something to do with a health garauntee. Ask to see both parents and check their health and temperment. Ask to see pedigrees for both parents. Ask to see vet records for both parents. She has both dogs so she should have all these records. APR is not a good registry so I wouldn't buy from this particular woman. Ask about the parents accomplishments in obedience, tracking, agility, herding, Shutzhund, search and rescue and/or conformation. If they don't have any, don't buy. You don't want a mediocre dog.

As for the shock collar issue - it shouldn't have an affect on the pups. The current is so low that it won't affect the fetuses.
she is a backyard breed and is running a puppy mill!
she obviously is doing it for the money and doesnt care much for the dogs. anyone who knew anything about dogs would never need to use a shock collar and would not breed them continuously like this.

no, shock collars are NOT normal, and NO, no good breeder would interbreed their dogs - this causes all sorts of genetic problems.

the best thing you can do is NOT take a pup.
if she doesnt have anyone who will buy her pups, she will have to stop.

you might want to report her to any local animal organisations so they can put a warning out on her and ask local animal enforcement agencies if there is anything they can do.

.
Well its sounds as if she breeds her dog for the money, that should be 1 red flag. Before you take the pup it is in your best interest to have the puppy looked at by a vet. German Shepards tend to have some genetic problems, and for profit breeders just keep these problems going. Ask her also if you can take the puppy home for a few hours to see how things are with your other dogs. There should be no ill effect from shock collar but it does seem very cruel to use it on a pregnant animal.
if she's had to use a shock collar on the dame, make extra sure that both of the parents are of sound mind, and dont have any problems, that would be a red flag to me. i would think that if she was breeding the dogs for quality that she wouldnt need to resort to a shock collar, do you know why she has to wear the collar? call your vet and ask about sideffects from being inside the mother when this was going on. if the breeder is selling healthy dogs they she will have a healthy dog contract that guarantees health for first year or two. if you check into all of the above and decide it's a go, ask her if you can take the pup home or take your greyhound and bernard over and see what they think of the little girl. like a trial run. i hope things go good for you and it all works out!!
Sounds like is she usualy ends up with pups at the shelter, you should be able to get one for free. I would think of it more as rescuing it than buying it if I were you. All dogs need good owners, no matter how irresponsible the breeder is.
I would ask what their hip certifications are, if she shows the parents and how they do. If she has a pedigree, what she feeds them, who her vet is..
All good things to know. You might not get the "best" cause she doesnt sound like the best breeder... But either way, a german shepherd is a loving dog, and needs a loving owner. They do usualy play well with other dogs, especialy if intoroduced to them at a young age.
I wonder why she is still breeding if many of her pups end up in shelters?
It is also somewhat common for some breeders to do some linebreeding. If she is trying to preserve certain traits, (which many still dont aprove of) But all dogs have been linebred at some point in their history to make them what they are. But if done by an inexperienced breeder, it could turn out bad.
German shepherds are not good dogs for shock collars. They respond best to positive re-enforcement and if you do get one, be sure to reward her instead of punishing her.. Do that and she will be good to you. she will play with you, listen to you, and protect you.
This woman is sick!!! never, ever buy a dog from a backyard breeder. From what you write the chances are excellent that all of her pups are defective and will cost you money and heartache in the future. If I were you I would run, not walk away from her and then report her horrendous abuse of her animals to the local authorities.
If I were you, I would not give this woman a cent. You would just be rewarding her for mistreating her animals. The best thing you can do is report her to your county鈥檚 animal care and control. You can do it anonymously so she鈥檒l never know it was you who called. I don鈥檛 like people who sell animals for profit. They are too lazy to get a job and are content to live off the money they make by selling animals. It鈥檚 easy money to them.

My nearly 3-month-old labrador puppy rests only whn I put him on a leash. Else he keeping playing and tearing.

he would keep tearing off everything that he sees, shoes, socks, books, anything..becoz of teething. And he would keep on playing the entire time even at night if I don't chain him and make him sleep. Same in day time. If I dont chain him up, he would be hyperactive and wont take rest even for an hour. The moment I put him on leash ..he sleeps. This was not so earlier. he use to sleep a lot a few days ago, Now he is chaging and has evn become comparitively thin. is it Ok to chain a pup even at night in order to put him to sleep. And do they become thinner as they grow up. I am feeding him four time a day with a good diet.
Answers:
Never ever chain a dog. Chained dogs become fearful because humans, other dogs and animals can approach them but they have no method of escape. The Center for Disease Control studied dog bites and found that the most common risk factors for bites are chained dogs and unneutered males.

Crate train your dog instead. It will stop destruction when you can't supervise the dog and the dog will feel safe in its den - the crate. The website below will tell you how. I have done this twice and it is very effective.
It's fine to put the dog on a leash if that's what will help him get to sleep! The poor thing is just trying to take it all in at once, I bet.

EDIT: sorry if that sounds cruel, crating would be much better. Why does he relax on a leash? I apologize for any misunderstanding my answer may have created.

As long as he's not TOO skinny, don't worry too much about his weight. Keep taking him to the vet, working on training, and reminding him to sleep. Even people forget sometimes ;)

Best of luck!
No, don't chain him up, it is too dangerous for a hyper pup, they can hang themselves and die. A friend of mine hung and killed their pup. He didn't mean to do it at all, it was an accident. Get your pup a dog crate. Dogs are den dwelling animals and will sleep in a crate, plus he will be safe in a crate. Tying a dog up like that especially a pup is cruel. He is probably getting thinner because he is getting ready to go through a growing spurt where he will get longer and taller.

My mum takes my puppy to work everyday?

He hasn't had all of his vaccinations yet. Is it possible for him to catch any common viruses in puppies?
Answers:
She should definitely not be taking your puppy anywhere until he has had his second set of puppy shots!

Puppy shots serve to boost a young pup's immune system to give them the protection they need, and they are very susceptible to diseases before they have had all of their shots. While it's great he's getting a lot of socialization, she really should wait until the shots are finished to do it.
How old is he?? If he is under 9 weeks of age the puppies antibodies that he got from his mothers milk are still in affect and he should be fine. If he is over that he needs to be vaccinated to prevent disease. Good Luck.
Yes, if he is unvaccinated he is vulnerable to a plethora of things, has he had any vaccinations? If not, your mom should leave him at home until he does.
Yes, your pup could get parvo and die. It needs it's full series of puppy shots before socializing in public.
it sure is. you want a puppy completely vaccinated before you take him anywhere
Yes the dog should stay at home until it's had all 3 of it's puppy shots and his rabies shot. It can get very sick if it does not.
as long as your mom doesnt let him play with other dogs or place him on the floor/ground where there may have been unknown dogs, he should be fine.
If there are no puppies or other dogs at work, there isn't going to be a problem.. But as long as he is done his vaccinations, he is very likely safe anyhow.
have her get the puppies shots as soon as it is old enough.until then she should keep it home. its amazing what kinds of things even dogs who have had their shots can catch.
Yes, it is possible for him to catch an number of viruses. Please ask her to schedule the pup for vaccination.
As long as your puppy is not around other dogs that should not be a problem!!
It is good for the puppy to be around other people!! Your puppy will not get lonely.
Good Luck with your puppy!!
I have a 3 month old Lab puppy.
Yes it's possible for him to catch almost anything while he isn't vaccinated. Tell your mum to keep him at home until he has been vaccinated. He should have his vaccines at 6-8 weeks, 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks of age. Then again every 12 months.
Leave him at home until he has had all his shots, it's simply not worth the risk of Parvo or something like that.

My mum takes my puppy (chi hua hua x pomeranian) to work everyday. Will he get used to home and work?

Answers:
Yes, he will. It depends a little bit from your puppy, to tell all the truth. If it's friendly and equilibrated, seeing more people and "live" in two place could even help him, 'cause he will learn to stay in places full of people and will be not "afraid of strangers". I've a dog who stays a lot both at home, both at office, and he learned to be cuddled and cared from strangers as his own owner.. even I never leave it alone, i could keep him walking around the office, and he will sit quietly near the clients asking for attentions.

So, your dog will grow cheerful anyways ^^
I don't know bout everyday, but my Jack Russell comes to work with me periodically and he seems to be fine with it he loves the extra attention and still reacts like he would at home...like going to the nearest door when he needs to potty and coming to me when I call him. But your question is kinda vague...use to what at work and home? or are you wondering if it will be come confused?
He will be happy to go with her anywhere now cause she is socializing him and that is good for the dog . he will get used to other people this way and he will know both places. it is good for the dog.
Your mom has a great idea. Your dog will become more socialized and accepting of strangers if she gets to see them often.
Excellent way to better socialize the puppy!!! I cannot stress this enough to people. Exposing them to different people and places will make him a much better dog and happier too!

My mum loves dogs, but she doesnt want one because they smell, how will i perswade her to get me a dog ??

Answers:
theres only a few breeds that really do smell whether you wash them or not.

the others only really smell if you dont wash them weekly, allow them to roll in crap or feed them a bad diet (like human food).

maybe she just doesnt want a dog. they can be quite expensive.. a regular dog costs around $2000 a year for food, defleaing, worming... not including first year setup and immunisations, toys, leashes and training... and not including any vet visits if it gets sick.
.
throw her in a lake
HUH? Dogs don't smell unless you aren't taking good care of them.. If you feed a good quality food, get them good exercise, and fresh water.. Dogs just don't smell.. If you leave it in a crate all the time, or leave it in a run and feed crappy food, they have bad breath, they smell.
Promise her youll wash the dog bi weekly, unless very dirty. Ensure your mom youll pick up the mess after the dog.
Ensure your mom that you'll be responsible in feeding, and taking care of it.

Dogs are alot of fun, but at first are a big repsonsiblitiy and alot of work. So, proving to your mom that youre ready for that responsibility is the key element to that.

Could it be that your mom just uses dogs are smelly as an excuse not to get one because she doesnt believe youre ready for the responsibility yet?
Dogs smell correct. But humans also smell. If dogs are kept washed and dusted and cleaned of fleas, they will not smell. Please tell your mother about this. Also tell her that without performs and toiletry we will also smell. You can also tell her about the love the dogs show and their response to attack on the owners and their property.
Feed the dog food that doesn't smell like crap. Give the dog a bath at least once a week. Train the dog to poop outside. Pick up the poop weekly. Tell your mom all of these responsibilities and tell her that the dog is all your responsibility.
interagate her until she gives.
huh? most dogs don't smell unless they are outside and not taken care of...and some breeds...hounds and spaniels tend to have an odor...but a bath is an easy cure. oatmael shampoo is about the best..besure its on a healthy diet. and human food does not cause a dog to smell. one just has to be wise what to feed and what not to give dogs. mine don't smell and they get raw and home cooked foods.
I have two Dachshunds. This breed is naturally free of that "doggy smell".
aske her over and over again

My mother is a horrible dog owner, and I don't know what to do.?

For a couple of years, my 7 year old dachshund has been limping because of his back right leg. I have asked my mom multiple times to take him to the vet, but she always has an excuse. She spoils herself all the time, and she just bought a basically new Acura, and navigation system. She is extremely self- centered and cares about spoiling herself more than our dog who is in constant pain. Our dog is also a little aggressive, so I don't think a dachshund rescue will take him. Today, my mother picked him up and threw him on the ground, causing him to limp more extremely, and its really hard for me to witness how she treats our own pet. He is our only dog, so more than half the day he is alone in the backyard and neglected. I play with him and pet him when I can, but I get busy, and I know he has a bad life, but I don't know if I can bear it if we get him killed by the vet. I don't erally have any options, but what should I do?
Answers:
Where are you located? I work with Disabled Dachshund Society, and know of other rescues that may be able to take your Dachshund, as long as your mother signs the animal over to them. What your mother is doing is animal abuse, and in almost all states this is at least a misdemeanor.

The most important issue right now is to get the animal away from an abusive situation, then get it seen by a vet. It may not be too late to solve the dog's problem if he is still feeling pain.

Please post your plea for help on the board at Dodgerslist (www.dodgerslist.com), and on the DDS board (www.ourdds.org). We'll make sure rescue organizations contact you to rescue the dog (that is, if your mother will sign the animal over to rescue).

Regarding the dog's aggressivenes, you'll also be aggressive if you'd be feeling pain 24 hours a day. Enough said.
Get a job, save some money, and take the dog to the vet. Or call dachshund rescue, they'll take him even if he's nippy. Biting is a very common behavior problem in this breed.
maybe you should take care of it. if u go 2 school keep it at home. don't let your mom kill it!!

and u take it to the vet!!
take ur dog to the nearest rescue league. if they consider him too dangerous to adopt out they will euthanize him. while it may hurt to have him put down, its better than knowing he's living in constant pain.
if you love the dog i would take him to the vet my self or have some one take me.
take actions into your own hands
take the dog to the vet
and what ever happens happens
if it has to be put down or something it will be sad
but wouldn't it be sadder to let the dog live through the pain?
talk to her about the dog and how she has been treating it and try to see if you can get her to give him away or one day someone will report her to the humane society and she will be charged for animal cruelty
Call your local animal shelter and have him picked up.
Why would you want to see the dog suffer too?
I am so sorry about your situation. You sound wonderful and brave, and willing to do the best thing for your pet. There are no kill shelters that may be able to help, they often will take care of injured pets, and give them a large room to live and play in until, if, they get adopted. Another option is finding a friend who will help take care of your doggy -- you can even offer to help bring him stuff and stop over to help him heal. How old are you now? It doesnt sound legal, what your mom is doing, but like you said it may not be best for your pet to turn him over to the county authorities. At worst, see if you can build him a comfortable doghouse out of something, and put pampering things inside. keep him away from your mom and as comfortable as possible if you can. I am sorry your mom is so heartless, and I am glad you are not taking after her.

(Don't go to Humane Society or a similar place that will put dogs to sleep, look around online for a local no kill shelter and explain the situation. They will see that you are being responsible. A lot of people turn over dogs because they are too lazy or selfish to take care of them, but in your case this may be the best thing. You will have a lot of wonderful animals when you grow up).

ADD We are not saying your mom is all bad, but the dog is acting out because it gets hit sometimes -- being hit or kicked even once will badly affect any living creatuer. And the pain from the injury is also going to make your pet bite all the time, he really needs that surgery. Thanks again for caring about him.
Kill your mother...okay, that's illegal, but I can't stand people who abuse animals. They give us nothing but love and expect nothing but basic care in return...I really feel for you but short of finding someone with the money to care for your dog and is willing to help, not sure what else to do...what an absolutely horrible woman.
Dachshund rescue WILL take the animal, it is part of what we do; get them safe, vetted, evaluated, rehabilitated.
Contact / e-mail either of these organizations and tell the representatives what you just told us:
http://www.c2cdr.org
http://www.drna.org
They will be happy to take the dog off her (abusive) hands. I fear for you also if this is the way she treats the dog.
You could also call a vet yourself; maybe they know someone who is looking for a dachshund to CARE for.
dogs will like the owner no matter what .. you feed it... but honestly if you care so much and your mum wont take him why dont you work to get the money and take him yourself... you talk about getting busy and not having time for him well then you are just like your mum.. just in a different fasion... well anywise i know this becuase my dad is the same way. my dad has a temper and does not know how to disapline animals he doesnt understand that when he "spanks" or rubs his nose in the pee that by that point the dog doesnt understand... but i try to gently train my dad into how to train a dog and that what he is doing is not right... and when one of my 3 animals needs the vet i work my butt off to get the cash to get them to the vet and usuallly by that point my paretns will give me allitle extra cash afterwards.
You need to call a shelter to come and get him or some shelters that take in dogs and adopt them out. The dachshund rescue will take him regardless of his nipping cause it might just be he nips at you guys. Call before someone calls the police on you and your mom or she kills him by accident.
Why don't you call the ASPCA or a humane society and have them take the dog, That would be the best thing for you and that poor dog.
Lets throw your Mother to the ground and stuff her in her new Acura!
I would take your dog if I didn't already have one! Sorry! Sounds like a bad sisuation! Get rid of the dog! I think it's great that even though you love you're dog you're not selfish in wanting ti keep it! Admirable! I would post it in local classifieds! Sounds like he just needs alittle TLC! Post free! Don't explain that he needs vet care until someone contacts you! Let them know he's worth it! Maybe call the humane society and talk to someone who's commpassionate!

Good LUck!
If you live in or near Ohio I might be able to help you!
My family has and shows Dachshunds!
simpsonj011@yahoo.com
thats rough im torn i love my mom and i love my dog i really feel your pain maybe you should ask your vet if he could make a payment arrangement and then maybe you could afford to take your dog in my vet is a wonderful guy he let me pay larger bills in like three monthly payments. it wouldnt hurt to ask. hope things get better .
Your dog is probably nipping because he is in pain. Daschshunds are very easily hurt in their back and hips. Please ask your mom to let you take him to the vet.
Are you an adult? If so, move. YOU should not be subject to this.

Are you a child? YOU should not be subject to this. Maybe if you did contact the dachshund rescue and presented a human being to your mother who wanted the dog, she would give it up. An aggressive dachsund doesn't scare me.

Maybe she is striking out against the dog because she feels like a martyr and that is very destructive.
First, you're very brave to ask this question. Obviously, you have a conscious and a heart. Do no wait any longer. Call the humane麓s society in your area immediately. The longer you wait, the longer the dog will suffer. He needs a vet...and at least there he can live a comfortable, safe life until he is adopted or put down. About being euthanized..it's a painful reality. But many animals are better off going to sleep peacefully then constant neglect. Imagine the next 10 years of your life in fear and pain? Wouldn麓t you rather help your dog? Get the phone book and call tomorrow.
First of all, don't assume he needs surgery. Go to the vet yourself, and then the vet can tell you whats wrong.

Second, some dogs get aggressive with bones, its just how they are. Everytime he tries to bite, tell him no.

Third, he probably attacks other people when they come into your house, or other dogs because he's trying to say, she's mine, don;t touch her.
okay...my boyfriend and i have a 2 year old dachshund and one of his front legs he limps on and it looks really bow legged...we did some research on it and found that it was common two this breed where they have such short legs...but as far as your mom throwing him down on it.i would look into putting him up for adoption where he will get better care than that.
sounds like abuse to me, humane society, animal control, call some one,she has responsibility as a pet owner, ask her if she was hurting wouldn't she want you to take her to a hospital or doctor.maybe consider surrendering him, yes you love him ,find him another home? just tell her he ran away .you care about him ,do the right thing ,no wonder he's aggressive,he hurts. best wishes*
I am so sorry, it has to be very hard for you. I would call the dachshund rescue and discuss the problem with them. They might be able to foster him and train him to change his behavior. Just getting in a situation where he is not in pain may change him personality completely. Unfortunately his aggression may be due to more than just the pain he has but the abuse he has suffered.

You can't change your Mom is she doesn't want to change. I'm relieved that you realize what your Mother is doing is wrong, this means you won't repeat the pattern of abuse in your own home.

The abuse has got to stop, talk to her about it in a kind but not accusatory way. But do call the local rescues and see if they can't get foster care for your dog to see if he can be rehabilitated and have a better life.

I wish you the best!
I can feel your pain from your message. Yes, she's your mother, but you know she's doing wrong. You can't change your Mom, but you CAN do something to help your poor pooch. Please, contact a Dachshund Rescue group. They will take care of his medical needs, and rehabilitate him to ease his aggressions. Then, they will find him a home where he can be loved and cared for the way he should be.
You show courage and caring in recognizing this problem and in your desire to help your dog. Please take it one step further and take the action that will stop his pain.
Good luck. I have a feeling that someday you will be the responsible and loving pet owner that you wish your Mom was.

I don't think there much you can really do!! If your mother is that self-centered she probably wouldn't take the dog to the vet to be put down!!! She'd probably would let the dog suffer in pain and misery for the rest of it's terrible existence. Sometimes it's better to be put to sleep and end cycle of pain and abuse.

Is there a humane society there or a dog warden you could report your mother's cruelty. Now I must warn you ahead of time that the dog could possibly be to sleep!!! But continuing on in that household it's no wonder the dog is mean!!! And it is no life to live with that constant abusiveness and neglect.

It's wonder that you didn't grow up mean!!! Is there a dad you could live with or another relative? You shouldn't to deal with her cruelty and abusiveness towards you or any animal!!

Also, your mother sounds like she mentally ill. If you can't her to seek help!! (which you can't anyways) Then you need to get counseling to be better able to deal with her craziness and to understand that you can't do anything to change her. And, you need to counseling so you can repair the damage that she has done to your life!!

I wish you good luck!
How about asking dad? Or another relative for help?

My mother has a male shitzu who is repeatedly having accidents in the house?

He is house trained, however he is getting old, my mother is living with my brother because of her medical condition. The dog "tito" is let outside all the time, but he will repeatedly come in the house and still have accidents after being outside for an hour or more, could this be an age problem, a medical problem....I need help, my mother loves this dog dearly and due to her health I am not sure how she would cope if he was no longer around. Needless to say my brother wants to do something, please help, need good advise
Answers:
Take him to the vet. They can help with medications. It's not uncommon for elderly dogs to have some incontinence and there's no reason to have to live with it. It's hard on the dog, too. Older dogs who have been housetrained their whole lives are embarassed by what's happening - he can easily be helped. If he's old, having a geriatric check up would be a good thing for him - they can catch any problems he might have while they're still treatble. Good luck with him!
it suposse to be a wild animal it needs space from everyone it belongs in the wild. outside out in the forest or at a zoo or at a petining zoo. or maybe at a wildlife area.
When you bring him back in the house, you must either crate him or keep him in your lap, don't let him have the run of the house. You could "tether" his leash to a door knob too, for out of crate time.
If he isn't running around unattended he can't pee in the floor. Don't feel sorry for him being crated or confined. he did this to himself by being naughty!!!
Good luck!
I would definitely take the dog to the vet. My elderly cockapoo started doing the same sort of thing. Before you go to the vet's office, though, I would try to harvest a urine sample. I did this by attaching a Ziploc bag in the "area" using an ace bandage and masking tape. Otherwise, you will either have to go back to the vet or they will have to use a needle to harvest the sample which is costly and painful for the dog. It turned out that my dog simply had a urinary tract infection that was easily curable with antibiotics. Many people will tell you that male dogs can't get them, but I can tell you from experience that they can.

In the meantime, something to assist with the frustration of incontinence is the use of a belly band. I've added a link to a site that sells them. I do a little sewing so I just made a few for my dog. (They're REALLY easy to make) I lined them with half a baby diaper but with a Shitzu, you could probably get away with using a large sanitary napkin.

Good luck!!!
call 911 and report the accident.

My mother found a tick on her dog?

and when the removed it the head stayed under his skin? Can they leave it there or is that dangerous? Thanks
Answers:
nope, the head needs to be removed too.

if there are ticks around her house, your mother needs to treat the dog with a combination flea/tick preventative, like Frontline Plus - it will kill all ticks, fleas and their eggs.
.
you must remove the head of the tick...take the animal to the vet as soon as possible!
No, you cannot leave the head. He could end up with a very bad infection. Rinse the area with alcohol and get him to the vet so it can be properly removed.
Yes it must go to the vet and get the head removed. That very bad would you leave a tick head it you or another human.
Rub some rubbing alcohol around the area the tick's head is imbedded and then take the dog to the vet to have the tick removed in case you can't get it with tweezers. And that way you can be sure the entire tick is out.

And then your mother might want to look into a flea and tick collar and use anti-flea/anti-tick shampoo for the dog also.
NO thats dangerous. next time she needs to be more careful removing ticks. Everyone should know to use tweezers and get it at the head (closest point to the skin). The dog can get very sick and die, get it to the vet immediately.
It needs to be removed. It can become infected and cause all sorts of nasty problems.

In the future, if you find a tick embedded (using a preventative like Frontline will avoid this problem altogether!) use a tweezers to grasp the tick's head, right at skin level, and pull it out that way, if you must do it yourself. Grasping the tick back further not only leads to the head being left behind, but also the squeezing may release Lyme disease infected fluids into the animals tissue.
Don't worry. She knows how to scratch it out. Just a tick? I think its the tip of an iceberg. Did you check under the carpet? Oh dear... OH Dear... I think you should standby the pest control guys.
You must remove the head take your dog to the vet as soon as possible.
Good grief, I've yanked hundreds of ticks off dogs and never had any of them get sick from it. The head of the tick will be worked out of the dog's skin just like any other irritance. You should monitor the area and probably trim the fur around it so you can see the area a little better. I'd make sure that I cleaned the area thoroughly with a little soap and water and then watch for any infections or reactions (scabs are good - open sores that don't heal in a day or so and rashes are bad). I would only take the dog to the vet's office if there was an infection or if he seemed ill (lethargic, irritable, off food/water, obvious gastrointestinal issues).

By the way, the ticks that carry Lyme's disease are deer ticks and they are very, very small so it is highly unlikely that it was one of those.
You need to get the head out. You need to go to the vet.

My moms yorkie always shakes and I think it's eat it's own poop.why? whats wrong?

babysitting moms 5-6 mth old yorkshire terrier and it always shakes, maybe cold, but it feels warm/normal. and eating poop, cause it's poop disappeared, and i didn't pick it up?. is this a related problem? or just a clod poop eating pooch?
Answers:
when sometimes they look for extra attention they will sit and shake like they are getting cold, so just give her a bit of extra love. the poop eating thing is that it could be there is something short in her diet. you could give her vitemans everyday. or a vit B complex injection once a month or two. the complex help to do more excercise and it keeps them healthy.
when i first got my pup she was shaking too. shes just probably a little nervous. about the poop--i dunno?
Maybe it shakes because it eats poop?
Some dogs just shake. She may also be a bit scared if she is in a new place. The eating the poop thing it could be a few things: She may not be getting enough nutrition, She could have worms(get her checked out by a vet and get a fecal test done.),sometimes puppies just eat poop your vet will have a med called for-bid for that.
This is a common problem and though this is somewhat disgusting to us as they then give us kisses. It probably has something to do with the fact that our dog foods are so good today without chemical preservatives that they don't seem to think it matters to recycle.
If you sprinkle some meat tenderizer on the food, this should help deter the dog from thinking it tastes good.
That and VERY QUICK cleanups, usually solve the problem.

My mom told me her dogs have parvo and asked me if my dog has had her Parvo shot?

What is parvo?? She had 1 shot at 7 weeks old, then another 4 weeks later, and she's due for her third one now. The shot record says Canine Parvovirus. My mom said she could die in 2 weeks if she hasn't had her shot. Since she's due for the third one what will happen? What are symptoms that I should look for? I don't know anything about this and I love my little puppy!
Answers:
Check out http://www.workingdogs.com/parvofaq.htm... This is a good, detailed article about parvo, symptoms, treatment, etc. Too much info to post here.
Tell your Vet if your puppy was exposed to her dogs or if they shared the same yard or space at anytime or if your mother or you handled the sick dogs and then your puppy.
Your Vet will advise you from there. Since she has had the first two sets she may be okay, but your Vet will give you the best advice based on all the info you give him or her.
Your kids couldn't get it from a dog. Your puppy, if it gets Parvo, will need to be cared for by a Vet because Parvo is a very serious disease that is fatal by a high percentage if the dog is not hospitalized.

If I were you I would get her to a vet as soon as possible. Here is some info about Parvo Virus...

Parvo virus causes severe intestinal tract disease in dogs. Parvo first appeared in 1978 and quickly spread all over the world, now being famous as one of the most contagious and deadly diseases in the dog population.

How Common Is Parvo?

Parvo virus is an epidemic worldwide, especially in metropolitan areas and regions where vaccination programs are sporadic.

What Are The Clinical Signs Of Parvo?

The classic symptoms of Parvo are severe vomiting and diarrhea (often with blood in it) along with extreme weakness and dehydration. Parvo literally destroys the lining of the GI tract, allowing bacteria to infect the bloodstream (a serious condition called septicemia). On those occasions when puppies (and sometimes adult dogs) die from Parvo it's usually due to the combined effects of dehydration, upset in the pH balance of the bloodstream, and septicemia. The symptoms of Parvo are remarkably similar to, and as serious as, those of people with radiation sickness (such as from nuclear fallout) with the difference being that recovery is usually complete (meaning with no lasting side effects) in those puppies who recover from Parvo. Although veterinary medicine has made tremendous progress in the treatment of Parvo in recent years and many puppies are being saved, Parvo should still be considered an extremely serious and often fatal disease.

How Is Parvo Diagnosed?

Parvo is diagnosed on the basis of patient history, clinical signs, and laboratory tests. The two common laboratory tests used to diagnose Parvo are (1) the fecal Parvo CITE test and (2) the Complete Blood Cell count (often called the CBC). Through the fecal Parvo CITE test we are looking directly for the presence of the virus in the patient's stool. Through the Complete Blood Cell count (CBC) we are looking at characteristic changes in the numbers of white blood cells which indicate a viral disease.

How Is Parvo Virus Transmitted?

Dogs acquire infection with Parvo virus by ingesting (meaning to swallow) the infectious virus particles. The Parvo virus is one of the hardiest viruses known to science and this virus can live outside the body in a dormant yet infectious state for one to two years. Puppies do not have to be in direct contact with other dogs to catch Parvo since the virus can be spread by people's clothing, shoes, and other inanimate surfaces, and can even travel on the dust in the air. A dog (or puppy) who is shedding the Parvo virus can defecate (go to the bathroom) on a surface and then a susceptible puppy can come by and sniff or lick this surface over a year later and can still catch Parvo.

How Is Parvo Treated?

As with the common cold virus in humans, we have no medication which works directly against the Parvo virus itself. Our therapy, therefore, is directed at providing as much supportive care as possible until the virus has 'run its course'. Parvo is usually treated by administering fluids, antibiotic injections, and medications designed to curb vomiting and diarrhea. In many cases, successful Parvo therapy requires around-the-clock intensive care hospitalization.

What Is The Prognosis For A Case Of Parvo?

The prognosis varies from case to case, with the prognosis always being at least guarded. Factors which generally affect the prognosis are (1) breed of dog (Dobermans, Rottweilers, and toy breed dogs have a harder time recovering); (2) age of the dog (young puppies have a harder time recovering than do older puppies and adults); (3) vaccination status (those dogs who have had at least some exposure to vaccine-no matter how inadequate-usually fair better; and (4) promptness of intensive care (those who receive fluids and medications immediately will fair better than those who don't).

How Is Parvo Prevented?

The best way to prevent Parvo is through adequate vaccination. Adequate vaccination begins before birth which means the mother dog should be current on her vaccinations at the time she gives birth because the puppy acquires its first immunity toward Parvo from the antibodies it receives from its mother (called Passive Transfer of immunity). Then its important that the puppy receive an initial vaccination against Parvo early in life, followed by the full series of puppy boosters. At Sun Lakes Animal Clinic we vaccinate puppies with a Parvo vaccine at 6 weeks followed by a booster at 9, 12, 15, and 18 weeks. Then the puppy (dog) should receive a booster once yearly thereafter. The main thing to remember in this regard is that the puppy series for Parvo is begun very early (usually around 6 weeks).

What Could Happen If The Puppy Does Not Receive Or Stay On This Vaccination Program?

It has been my experience with Parvo that if a good vaccination schedule is not adopted or adhered to then the puppy is at greatly increased risk of acquiring Parvo.

What Are Other Ways To Prevent The Spread Of Parvo?

Common disinfectants (such as Lysterine, Lysol, alcohol, etc) will not kill Parvo. The only two things which will kill Parvo outright are fire (burning contaminated blankets, newspapers, etc) and a dilute Clorox solution (1 part Clorox to 32 parts water).
No this will not spread to your kids. As long as you did not go to your Mom's house while her dog was sick or she come over while the dog was sick then you pup should be ok.

If, she did come over then or you went there then chances are that you have carried the virus into your house on your clothes and shoes. Try to remember what shoes you were wearing and Bleach the heck out of them, and any shoes your kids had on too. Disinfect your floors too.

I hope your pup doesn't get Parvo. But look for signs of lethargy, loss of appetite, disinterest in play or even water, fever, vomiting and severe watery diarrhea.
If your dog has had teh canine parvovirus shots then your dog should be fine. they come in a set called DHLPP which is for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus. They should of also recieved their corona shot at the 7 weeks old, and also at 11 weeks old. you do have the shots up to date. another set of the dhlpp and corona is due between the ages of 15 to 16 weeks old.
The distemper is an airborn viral disease of the lungs, intestines. and brain
The hepititas is a viral disease of the liver
The Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease of the intestines
The Parainfluenza is an infection bronchitiis
Th PARAVIRUS is a viral disease of the intestines.
The Rabies is a viral disease fatal to humans and other animals.
Corona is a viral disease of the intestines
Bordetella is a bacterial infection (kennel cough)
After the shots she is due now she will have to have rabies shot done at 4 months old and repeat every year
Then 7 to9 months first heartworm test.
Then adult dogs need the dhlpp yearly, heartworm test yearly, rabies every 3 years after the second rabies shot, and bordetella yearly.
I hope this helped you out.
As long as your pup has had its shots on schedule she should be fine. Thats what the shots are for to cover the prevention.
people vaccinate their dogs too much. if its had one or two it will be fine. even if it did by some chance catch it- as long as youre diligent with care parvo is a piece of cake. slip your pup some echinacea or colostrum to boost its immune system just in case. you can get those at walmart, and healthfood stores

My mom isn't keen on getting me a puppy cos she says it'll grow up big and need expensive food. help?

Its a Labrador/Golden Retreiver. And she says it'll need food like beef, steak, whatever when it grows up. is she right? or can the dog eat dog food from packets (like from supermarkets) alone?
Answers:
Your mom is half right, half wrong.
I have one big size golden retriever, and yes, my parents have to spend around RM 100(Malaysian money) per month for my dog, Ginger. But the bright side it, it's absolutely worth it, coz' the dog will learn to love you and it will be your companion, that it of course, unless you treat it badly. And listen to me, dogs can't, I repeat, CAN'T be healthy eating beef and steak. You have to feed it dog food, and that's what the RM 100 is for. But of course, the first month would be quite expensive becoz' you have to buy a cage, some toys for it. Take those and plus the dog food( ask a vet to help you find the right one for your dog. But you can always choose on your own with some advice from friends or whatever.), and it becomes around RM200.

My mom also disagreed with me when I asked to have a puppy. And now, she loves it as much as me too. But I had to g an A in my maths first.
Try getting high scores in your exams, maybe she wll let you have a puppy. Make her a good deal.

Well, that's my advice to you. By the way, nobody can resist cute golden retriever puppies playing together, the chances of you coming with one are 85%.
Yes it can you should always resepct your mother.Maybe your old enough to take care of a dog it's hard rasing puppy's and kids.
No, it certianly will never NEED steak or beef...

However, it will eat a lot more food than a smaller dog would. I'd reccomend, if you get it, putting it on a food called Petguard, which you can get from any health food store. Its the healthiest you can get, since they use no byproducts (chicken feet, cow hooves..you get the picture), and it doesn't use exports from China (which can kill your poor puppy).

I can assure you though your mothers concerns are a little extreme, dog food is pretty cheap.
your mum was right...you should listen to your mum...
save the money for emergency...
She's right, sorry!
The dog will be big and dogs are VERY expensive to keep. Dogs don't need human foods like beef and steak but some owners feed a BARF (raw human food) diet, which can be pretty expensive. A dog will get all his nutritional needs from a HIGH QUALITY dog food - food that you won't find in a place like Wal-Mart. You can find quality food at pet stores that will cost between $30 and $50 to buy. Some are Canidae, California Natural, Solid Gold and Innova. If you can't afford this, forget the dog and wait until you get a job.

My mom feeds the our dog puppy food?

I just wanted to know.
My mother is feeding our 3 year old poodle puppy chow and apparently is may make your dog bigger? Like, gain weight?
Thats good and all because our dog is skinny and cannot gain a pound to save her life. (When we put her in a kennel when we go on vacation, no matter what kennel she is at, she losses weight so dont even try to think that we do not feed her because her bowl is filled all the time.) We have changed her dog food before and this is the best she is eating. Side effects...well, embarrasing but she farts alot. And its the smelly kind.
But i was wondering if it is ok if she eats puppy dry food.
Thanks alot :]
Answers:
Rather than puppy food, I'd try a "performance" type diet. She doesn't need the extra calcium and such in puppy food, but does need a high calorie digestible diet for an active adult dog. Poodles can be notoriously picky eaters if you allow them to be, but they are also easily trained to eat what you feed them. Mine get their measured ration of dry food (I feed Pro Plan), to which I add about a tablespoon of canned Pedigree. I buy all the different flavors of the canned food, so they think they are getting new food every couple days. They eat when I feed them, or it gets picked up until the next mealtime. A dog's digestive system is not really built for "grazing." Food will "stick" better if eaten as meals.
Any food that contains soybeans in any form can cause flatulence. Look for a dry food without any soy. It's one of the reasons I switched to Pro Plan foods 25 years ago. It has no soy, and they make a performance formula. I'm sure there are other choices, do some research.
Check into Iams dog food food
Puppy food is okay to feed adults and it sounds like she needs all the nutrition she can get. Have you taken her to the vet to see if she needs wormed? That can make a dog skinny and have a lot of flatulence. Some doggy vitamins may be a good idea also. They are inexpensive and found in most grocery stores and Wally World.
that's something to ask the vet. puppy food contains a lot of protein for the growing puppy. while it will put weight on her, there might be another reason for the weight loss, like worms. ask the vet.
It might make it gain weight, but is not healty. The reason that puppy chow makes it gain weight is becuase it is supposed to provide PUPPIES with fat to start off with. Your 3 year old is not getting enough nuitriants it needs. (Which will result to less energy and possibly sickness) You can still give your dog the chow, just mix it with regular dog food.
Puppy food and adult food is all the same, it just have different nutrients in it. If your dog is gaining weight, you should keep her on the same food, especially if she likes it. But keep her active so that she stays healthy. Dogs are just like people and need just as much food as exercise. If she stops eating it, or it appears to make her sick, gently wean her off it. try mixing it with a different food everyday until she is completely switched.
As far as not eating at the kennel, your gog is probably lonely. As far as the puppy food, maybe the extra nutrition is what it needs. Check with your vet.
It really won't hurt the dog. It has a lot of nutritional stuff that an adult dog does not need and you have already witnessed the smelly side effects, but other than that it should be fine.

My miniature schnauzer is very vocal...?

Is there a way to break his habit of barking? I wouldn't mind it sooo much but it's a high pitched, emotional, screech whenever I leave and the neighbors say he continues on for a while after I'm gone. I have a cocker spaniel as well who is with him all the time, but whenever I leave it's like he's saying, "Mommy, mommy, mommy!" He gets so upset. He's almost 2 years old. I don't want to use shock collars or anything painful...so what are my options?
Answers:
try a collar that sprays citranella, when they bark,it is harmless when sprayed, they wont like the smell and when they bark it will give off a spray ,they will learn not to bark real quick,i have used it on my cockapoo, great stuff.you can get it at the pet stores.
you obviously did not do your research before getting these breeds,,, they are notorious screecher/barkers,, do not attempt to use electric shock on them,, ridiculous and cruel,, try much more exercise before you leave and kennel them with a bone

My miniature poodle squats, sits and her bottom appears sensitive after being groomed. Should I be concerned?

Answers:
if she's doing this after being groomed, when the groomer is shaving that area it sounds like they are using a blade that is too short for sensitive skin, usually a number 10 will do that, its called clipper burn, you can help relieve that by using a topical anasthetic like the ones found in hemroid medicine, or using an anti itch helps too. like hydrocortizone.
let the groomer know next time to use a longer blade in that area like a number 7, this should take care of the problem, I have groomed for 14 years, so to be honest, this is probably better than a guess.
good luck
did the groomer express the anal glands.. if so, that may be why sensative just after grooming

If not.. you need to talk to your groomer about what is going on
It sounds like her anal gland may be bugging her. I suggest you take her to the vet and see if that is the problem. It's nothing life threatning. Good luck.
I had the same thing happen and took my dog to the vet and he
said not to worry what happen is who every cut the dogs hair
did not use a shapened blade on the shaver. And the dog got raiser burn. The vet said you can put some ointment on it
or vasoline.
Check the area for redness, is she licking the area, uncomfortable???
Does she have a slight rash, a clipper rash is possible, did she have knots around her bottom/hind area before grooming?
As a groomer, when a dog comes in with a matted bottom, a tighter blade needs to be used to get rid of them.
If taken to close to the skin or if your groomer used too tight a blade, it could cause a clipper rash, having said this, if she had knots before grooming, she may have have sensitive skin underneath due to the fact the knots pull on the skin and over time cause skin probs.
So basically, stop her licking and scratching at the area, if the skin is red, inflamed, causing her a prob, call your groomer, inform her of the problem asap, and take your pet to the vet for treatment.
I had an owner call me, her pet had alot of knots around his penis and bottom, they had to be clipped away, he started to lick the area afterwards which caused some redness, so really it wasnt the dogs fault or mine, just all of above..i paid her vet bill because the redness occured 2 days after grooming.she still comes to me and we've had not probs since, she doesnt allow him to knot badly anymore.
yep, same things happens to my bichon. They either shave her bum to close, or the blades aren't sharp enough.

My Miniature Pinscher is potty trained and she still pees.?

My Miniature Pinscher is potty trained and she still sometimes pees in the house.
Why?
Answers:
If she's an older Min Pin, you will need to watch more closely for the signals that indicate she needs to get outside. As their bladder muscles weaken and deteriorate, they may have less warning themselves that they have to go.

If your Min Pin seems to be in good health otherwise and isn’t showing other signs of age, but develops a habit of going indoors after years of being trained, take her to the vet. She might have a bladder, bowel, kidney or other problem.

Maybe this list of 7 common Min Pin housebreaking mistakes will help you:

1. Blaming your Min Pin. Housebreaking can be very frustrating. If you’re having trouble housebreaking your Miniature Pinscher, the first thing you need to understand is that you are responsible for our dog’s behavior because you create and control the circumstances and her environment.

2. Being impatient.—This is so important. If your dog doesn’t seem to be taking to housebreaking well, you must first examine what you might be doing wrong. Have you been letting him out unsupervised? Did you wait too long to take him for a walk? It would be so much more convenient if you could train the in a week, but this usually just doesn’t happen. Getting impatient and trying to rush him through it could cause unnecessary anxiety and stress in your new relationship. Instead, focus on praising him when he goes outside, getting him there on time, and being consistent. Dogs are like children – they don’t come into the world just knowing what you expect of them and how to do it. As his owner, it’s your job to show him the ropes. He’ll love you for it!

3. Swatting your dog.—Some Miniature Pinscher owners will swat their dog because of an accident, regardless of whether they caught their dog in the act, just after, or much later. It may be easier to swat a small dog than a larger one, but that doesn’t justify qualifying it as an effective housebreaking technique. The next time your find yourself reaching for a magazine or some newspaper, roll it up and swat YOURSELF on the head, because it’s your fault, not hers!

4. Don’t rub your Min Pin’s nose in it.— How would you like having your nose rubbed in it? Your focus should be on encouragement and positive reinforcement, not embarrassment and shame tactics. There’s just no need to resort to this type of punishment. Chances are, you just didn’t pick up their signals and will have to watch closer next time to avoid another incident! Rubbing your dog’s nose in it will only make them fearful and distrustful of you.

5. Not letting your dog out enough.—A Min Pin is not like a cat. Your dog needs to go outside. That doesn’t mean there can’t be exceptions, but as a rule, you need to take her out or see to it that someone else does. She needs exercise, sunshine and fresh air, just like you do.

6. Not using keywords to indicate going out to take care of business.—Throughout her life, your Min Pin will develop a vocabulary. The size of this vocabulary is up to you. With practice and patience, you can teach your dog to respond to words like “OUTSIDE?” and “PEE-PEE?” This is great for cold days when you really just want him to go pee so you can get back inside, or when you’re pressed for time. It also helps in the training process by giving your dog a clear idea of what it is that you expect them to do when you take them out to do their business.

7. Ignoring your Min Pin’s signals.–When your Min Pin comes to you, it could be to have you take him outside. If you’re too busy talking on the phone, watching TV or surfing the Web, you don’t leave him much of a choice…

If you want more Min Pin info, check out this site: http://www.my-miniature-pinscher.com...
Sometimes you just have to keep on them until they get to be a year or even two. It helped me to keep a puppy pad by the door and teach him to go on that.
She may pee due to excitement.

If she pees when you lean over her, she could be peeing to show her submission.

Usually, when a house-trained dog pees inside, it just means that you should've taken them out.

I wouldn't think into it too much :)
I had a min pin that lived to be 16 and she always at times would go in the house.Good luck.
Welcome to the world of owning a miniature pinscher. This is typical minpin behavior. Minpins are a very difficult breed to totally housebreak. Please pick up a book on minpins so that you can familiarize yourself with some of their odd behaviors. I have 5 minpins and each of them do the exact same thing that yours does. They are a darling breed of dog, but they definately have a mind of their own!

Do you take her out enough. What you need to do is put her outside with her food dish and water dish and just leave her out. Bring her in and for every time she does keep her outside for the day.
