My little chihuahua gives off a terrible smell when she's nervous, it eminates from her! Why?

I've noticed the smell when we are on the airplane, in a restaraunt or in on the subway, so thats why I think it may be caused from her being nervous. I've had a chi before and this never happened, so I dont understand. It is a very strong, musky smell, kind of like a farret. It doesnt have a source on her body, it comes from everywhere and leaves as quickly as it comes. Usually, it lasts for around 10 min. or longer. Has anyone ever heard of this, or do they know the reason why? It smells sooo bad and it is so strong! I need to know whats going on!
Answers:
It's her anal glands. Have a vet or groomer show you how to empty them.
anal gland?
Her anal glands let go.. It's an awful smell !
She's scared sh*tless!

Squeeze her anal gland.
Ever hear of a dog farting?
What is it about chis and smelliness? They smell worse than a dog 10 times their size. It's their anal glands.
Yep its her anal glands they release them where there scarred it's "a self defense" There's really no way of fixing it unless you wanted to pay for a very expensive surgery and have them removed.
When she gets nervous she tightens up her rear, and it causes her anal glands to excrete. Here is a tip, before you take her places make sure to excrete the fluid from her anal glands. You will need to do this in a bath tub and have a glove. Place your thumb and middle finger about 1/2 inch from her retum and grasp her tail tightly pulling it up, and towards her head. Not to hard, you don't want to hurt her. Now in positions 3 %26 9 (like on a clock) begin to squeeze and pull forward like (milking a cow) **keep your face away from her rear, infact keep it above her back to avoid being sprayed. The foul substance will shoot out, You will know when the glands are empty because no more liquid will come out. This really should be done everytime you bathe her. The anal glands hold very toxic, liquid excreted from their pooh. If you do not feel comfortable doing this you can take her to the vet, or even a good dog groomer will do it. Since Chihuahuas are inside dogs they do not get the pleasure of scooting on the grass as much as a larger breed of dog, so that is why we have to empty those glands for them. I own 4 Chihuahuas we Love them! It is not a fun thing to do but it will help. Best Wishes
definitely anal glands... they can emit that smell when they are excited as well. it is a gross smell. my mom's male dog does it and it'a disgusting.
you can have the "emptied" at the vet, but it doesn't last that long. It's just something you will have to live with.
Wait until she stops being nervous or excited to pick her up...
My pit has the same problem. I took her to the vet and the vet told me she does have a nervous stomach. (she was previously abused) Changing the diet doesnt really help. All you can do it try to transition her into things. Take things slow with her. if it gets worse, go to a vet they told me they CAN prescribe something.
