My jack Russell just had surgery last week for a broken jaw. Hard for him to swallow.?

I have been giving him almost liquid or smashed up food.. But he still is having a hard time swallowing. Is this normal?
Answers:
Yes, if you notice when you swallow you use the muscles in the jaw and the throat.
Make sure that his mashed food is very thin, and to help aid in swallowing rub down his throat as he eats.

Check with the vet. Dogs are not like humans and don't move jaw from side to side to eat... they just get it in their mouth and swallow. Opening the jaw might be hard.
Sounds like you are doing well. Give him time to heal and check with the vet.
Oh, the poor little thing. Is he alright? You should check and see if the vet gave any "follow up" instructions for after the surgery. If he didn't have anything on paper just call their office and ask...Even if you have to call his answering service it is worth it to have some peace of mind.
