My golden retreiver is out all day and has pulled out phone & air conditiong wires out. Why does he do it?

the dog is a golden retreiver he is out all day w/ use of invisible fence-he has chew toys and everything, but continues to pull out wires. Why does he do this and how can I get him to stop? Please help!!!
Answers:
probably boredom.

dogs not not have a sense of "revenge" - they are not human!

give him some new toys (my dog has about 15 toys - one or two is not enough), perhaps one of those balls that drops food if he rolls it around... he needs human contact, they are very social dogs.
.
Sounds like he is bored. Maybe he is doing it for revenge of being out all day. Maybe get a kennel and make him stay in there so he doesn't chew up wires.
He does it because he's bored. I know he has chew toys and everything, and I'm sure you give him bones outside too. But, he still chews the wires. Maybe there is some way to block him out of the area. When my dog chews wires outside my husband and I punish him by talking to him in a low voice and putting his face by it and saying, 'no'. Seriously, unless you're going to sit outside and watch his furriness all day you can't prevent him from wandering around the yard, unless you put him on a shorter leash. Or the other alternative is putting him in a cage outside.
He does it cause he is bored and lonely and obviously no one is watching him or he wouldn't be able to get away with it.
Smart dogs when they get bored, can get VERY creative in the things they do. You found out the hard way that he has a liking for electrical things..

Spend more time with him, play with him, exercise, walks, train him... A tired dog is a good dog.. A bored dog is plain old trouble ... Don'tcha think ! :)

Edit: A vet might tell you tho that eating wires can be very dangerous for a dog.. You should block him away from wires and anything like that if you don't have time for the dog and don't intend to keep him occupied.. A ball of wire in the belly of a dog is a very dangerous thing!
We have a retriever. She did the same to start offf with. Now we keep toys around for her to play with, and take her out for a very long walk before we leave her alone, which is for about 5 hrs max. We leave the radio on for her also....she hasnt eaten anything since, wires etc, I mean!! All she does is sleep after the walk, but it sounds like yours is bored, good luck x
Your baby is just bored and has excess energy honey. When dogs dont get worked regularly, they become very destructive. And goldens especially need to be stimulated not only physically but mentally. They are one of the smartest breeds in the world and need to be worked. The best way to stop this from happening if you cant get him alot of excercise is to crate him while your away. It is not jail. Dogs are denning animals and dont mind being in there as long as its not used for punishment. And not only is your yard safe, but hes safe as well. And if he is under a year he is probebly still teething. Good luck.
He is BORED. They're great dogs, sweet and lovable. And have a tremendous need for challenges. Your wires present a great challenge, getting them out may take a lot of pulling and that's exciting to him. You've probably tried covering the wires with plastic or PVC that he can't get his jaws around. If not, that might help. But most of all, trust your own instincts about how to handle this. I asked a cat question yesterday and got heartfelt messages from kind people, most of which were completely wrong.
He sounds bored, give him some toys and attention. Plus, put your wires inside pipe.
He probably has pent up energy, try bitter lime gel that they sell at pet stores.
You just cant put the dog outside all day unsurpervised and expect him to entertain himself the whole day. He's bored and getting into trouble. Godlens are very attached to their owners and need the human contact of humans. Get out side with him and play with your Golden show him you care about him and dont leave him outside all day long to get into trouble.teach him not to touach the wires.
I have 2 big Goldens here with me and they are trained and they also are outside quited a bit. They have never touched anything in the yard to cause me any worry. You want your dog to behave then teach him.
As a dog trainer and behaviorist I hear about this type of problem often. To put it simply, he's bored. Yeah he's got these toys, but the toys have lost their magic. Like a child two weeks after Christmas, the toys are not very fun anymore. And he probably isn't taking advantage of the backyard space either. The same old area he sees day in and day out. He really needs human interaction. Hop on the bike and hold on to his leash while he runs along side you. Fifteen minutes of running and he will be to exausted to want to do anything but sleep. Also, pick up all of the toys out of the yard for a few days, the reintroduce one toy and play with him with the toy. Rotate the toys every day. That way they stay fun. Oh, and by the way he's not doing it for "revenge". Truely, only human's are capable of a vengeful, hateful mind. Not animals. He is really just bored out of his mind and the cords are intertainment for him. If you choose to ignore the advice given to you, he will start to chew on other things.
why don't you try playing with your dog
He obviously feels ignored and probably is so he's being destructive. He's lonely and needs to be with the family more.
Hi he's trying to teach you a lesson for leaving him . my daughter has a dashound she poos on the floor if she's left on her own you need to leave him for a while %26 then go bak leave it longer every time good luck jackie
any attention is better than no attention at all why is he out all day can i ask i know mine gets up to all sorts of mischief when left for any length of time
