My imperial shih tzu had a seizure... (read first)?

i was not there but my dad was he dropped on the ground an closed his eyes and just started seizuring... the vet will see him tomorrow he said to give the puppy hone because he probably had low blood sugar because he was eating pedigree pouches of chicken and chiken and rice... he is going to the vet tomorrow like i said
you opinions on this situation?
Answers:
First of all if your pet is a young pup,you will need to make sure it is eating good every day,as its blood sugar will drop causing a seizure type trama.Give the pet some honey on its tongue when seizure starts and this will cause his sugar level to raise therefore bringing it out of the seizure. This problem can be corrected if it eats good at each feeding, but if an inherited problem the pet will need to be put on medication. If not eating good, the pet may need to be wormed,or checked for Coci
Tiny puppies like the so-called Imperial Shih Tzus tend to get hypoglycemic. A good breeder would have warned you to make sure it eats good quality small size kibble or canned food at least 3 times daily. Did you change it's diet from what the breeder was feeding? Has it been eating 3 -4 meals a day?

After you see the vet call the breeder !
The breeder needs to know the puppy seizured. And hopefully the vet will be able to tell you if this is a genetic problem or a dietary issue.

There is no such breed as an Imperial...it is a marketing ploy. Shih Tzus come in a range of sizes, but they are all Shih Tzus. Check the Shih Tzu Club of America's website for breed info.

IMHO there are better foods for Toy breeds than Pedigree. You may want to feed something with better nutrition. Royal Canin, Innova, Blue Buffalo...etc. Nothing that you can buy at the grocery store.avoid those brands if possible. Too much sugars and fillers.
