My golden retriever ate a whole 'kinder-egg surprise'... wrapper, toy & all.. any advice???

ACTUALLY, i'M DOG SITTING.. FOR ONLY 2 DAYS.. FOR MY IN-LAWS.. PLEASE HELP... WILL THE DOG PASS THE TOY IN TIME?
Answers:
You should defenitely call your vet.

First, chocolate is no good for dogs. Now this is a small amount, and depending on your dog's weight, this may or may not have any further consequences. Call your emergency line right now to find out if the amount your dog ingested is pontentially dangerous.

Second, if he swalloed the entire egg without breaking it apart, it might get stuck in its digestive system. Now this wouldnt be an emergency, but if the dog doesnt pass the toy within the next 24 hours you might have to take him to the vet for xrays. Chances are they'll give him a barium swallow to help dissolve the toy.

Now if he destroy the whole thing and then ate it, chances are he'll pass it soon. No worries.
best of luck
uh-oh. sometimes those things are hard to get out!
was it rubber? i have known a dog that had rubber in her stomach and died! go to the vet!
wow...watch him closley and or call your local vet.
Check all his poo. He probably will, but watch for signs of discomfort, and if he doesn't pass it in a couple of days, he should really be looked at.
What was the toy? Was it something that is pointy? Or too large to pass.
Keep an eye on the dog, if he vomits you should take him to hte vet.
Don't bother taking the dog to a vet, just ignore the problem in hopes it will go away on it's own.
Make sure the poor fella craps outside it will be hard but he should pass. Any complications get him to vet
Hi there. Your dog will soon begin a magical journey to meet his maker which will feature laughs, tears and ultimately an important life lesson, all the while featuring a delightful cast of celebrity voices. Enjoy the miracle of death! Also, the RSPCA has a wealth of unwanted pets that you should consider.

By the way, what was the surprise? I like the helicopter the best!
about three years ago my dog accidently ate a rubber bouncy ball and she is still alive!
was it plastic and did it break into sharp pieces? if so it could tear an opening into his stomach or intestines which could be fatal..if not , see if he will eat some cooked asparagus...that is what a doctor told a pharmacist I worked with when his daughter swallowed a quarter. It is slimy and the threads wrap around stuff.Ask a vet first.

If it is chocolate...take to the vet right away. Dogs can't eat chocolate!!
i wouldnt worry to much... i babysit for a famliy with a golden lab and he eats everything!! he once ate a whole stick of butter... paper nad all!! if te dog throws up u mite wnat to give teh vet a call but he should be ok. When i was babysitting thr dog throw up teh n he was fine! dogs are kinda goofy like that.. well BEST OF LUCK!!
Did he eat the chocolate, too? You should take him to the vet ASAP if you ask me.
my advice is to ring your local vet..
I have a lab and he eats what eva he can find. he eats pegs and they pass through fine.
Give it a couple of days and just keep checking to see if it has passed (sorry if that sound grose!) if the toy hasn't passed within the next few days ring a vet
Give him a handful of salt to eat. let him throw out. it's not the toy that's important. it's chocolate he is eating. dog cannot take chocolate. they will die.
I'd call a vet.. if the wrappper getsw stuck in the intestine it could cause a blockage and the dog could get very sick
