My female Golden Retriever puppy has a stark white line on his snout?

Is that natural for this breed to have? Is it considered fault? Also, she has a small head. What to do to make her head broad and remove her demarkation on her snout? To all dog connoiseurs %26 afficionados, I need your help. Tnx. God Bless! - lionel from cebu, philippines

I have seen a white marking on the face of a GR that went from where her nose meets her muzzle to the top of her forehead. I think asthetically for the show ring it is better not to have one, but the affor mentioned girl was shown and won challenge points, she also had puppies not all of which had the marking. It is not a huge fault - get in contact with your local kennel council to get a copy of the breed standard. As for the head being narrow, girls have a finer head than boys and you want your girl to be feminine. If her head is very narrow like a Collie it is a fault and a structural one at that(More important than a white marking) Boney structure cannot be changed but you can encourage good development of the jaws muscles by feeding big raw meaty bones once daily to every second day to help build up muscle. If the white bothers you and you are showing her then you can match chalk to her body colour and cover it up with that. Her white will probably become less obvious as she gets older and heads are not fully developed until 18months to 2 years. If she had a broad head now she could be overdone as an adult. Good luck and enjoy your puppy for her great temperament as this is the most important consideration in a puppy
i have seen some with these makings on them but can't tell you if it's a fault or not. there are some breeders sites on the internet you could go on to one of them to fined out.
good luck.
As she ages and her hair grows longer it won't show so much. She wouldn't be considered a show quality dog, but Goldens make great pets. She will be fine for a family pet.
Hi Lionel,

Congratulations on your new puppy.
Some Goldens are born with the white mark on their nose or even on the top of the head. They normally fade away and can't be seen when older, depending on how big it is. It would be a fault in the show ring if obvious. Your puppies head will keep maturing up until she is about 2years old depending on which lines she is from sometimes a bit longer. Don't worry about those things they won't affect her loving Golden personality.
Good day Lionel,

Some Golden pups do have a slight white streak on their noses when pups. If it remains it would be considered a fault in the show ring. You have to consider the rest of her coat coloring also. If she is very light in coloring then this may fade once fully grown. Golden's do come in different head shapes but a very narrow head is not considered the normal shape for the head.
Golden's are the very best dogs around so just wait and see what happens as she grows, Golden's do not mature until 2 years old so she has plenty of time to grow into a beautiful girl.

Enjoy your new Golden girl, they are the best.
