My friends dog keeps having fits?

they ARE or similar to epileptic fits, they were not so bad but now they are coming more frequently. Someone told her the kindest thing she can do is have him put down, are there any other options as that one would break her heart. Thanks everyone
Answers:
I have a small chihuahua mix that started to have petit mal
seizures, the vet has given him a prescription ofr
Phenobarbital, he gets one pill a day, and has had no
more seizures. He is a happy and healthy dog. Having
seizures does not mean death, but a vet is the one that
should evaluate the dog and determine what will halp it
to have a good healthy happy life.
id take the dog to the vets asap, could have epilepsy or something else
A vet may be able to perscribe medication to help the dog, but if that doesn't help she may have to consider the other option. I would check with the Vet though there may be a simple solution.
I had a dachshund that seized every now and again, sometimes more often. And I took he rto the vet and they said there was nothing to do but give her meds and if they start on meds they can't really be taken off. She lived a full life until she has kidney failure =/ so it's really up to the owner.
My Pomeranian started to do that, found out he had heart worms. We had him put down, it was sad but the poor dog was suffering.
That's epilepsy and it's 100% controllable. If she cannot cope with it, please find a home with someone who can, putting it down is the worst thing to do when it can be treated. Or is a pet just a convenience to her?
Get the dog to a vet NOW.
